Early indications were that Kevin Love/MIN would play, but (along with Kevin Martin/MIN) he was a surprise scratch. That boosted the fantasy value of the other Wolves, but was not enough to hold off the Trail Blazers. The Spurs earned a road win in Charlotte, as Tim Duncan/SAS and Tony Parker/SAS returned to the fold. The Pistons were firing on all cylinders, working their six-man rotation to the point that the seventh and eight were an afterthought. A rare off night for LeBron James/MIA resulted in a surprise loss to the Jazz. And on the back of superb games from Goran Dragic/PNX and P.J. Tucker/PNX, the Suns beat the Warriors. With NFL Sundays now behind us, the NBA has beefed up its Sunday lineup of games. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
TOP GUNS:
Josh Smith/DET. I was wrong about the Pistons being tired. We’ll see if back to back great games is a sign of things to come for the Pistons. 14 of 27 FGA, 1 of 4 FTA, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, 4 TO, 30 points.
Brandon Jennings/DET. One can’t seem to avoid the conclusion that the Pistons go as Smith and Jennings go.
Goran Dragic/PNX. Still waiting to here his name as an all-star replacement. For me he has moved from borderline to solid top-10 MVP candidate.
Dwight Howard/HOU, Al Jefferson/CHA, Andre Drummond/DET.
SLEEPERS:
Patrick Mills/SAS. He did all this in less than 26 minutes of play – one of the top sleeper games of the year. 10 of 13 FGA, 8 of 9 FTA, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 TO, 32 points.
P.J. Tucker/PNX, Corey Brewer/MIN, Ronny Turiaf/MIN, C.J. McCollum/POR, Harrison Barnes/GSW.
DISAPPOINTMENTS:
LeBron James/MIA. An inexplicably bad game. 4 of 13 FGA, 4 of 6 FTA, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 TO, 13 points.
Terrence Jones/HOU. Destroyed all my hopes yesterday.
Mike Scott/ATL, Markieff Morris/PNX, Larry Sanders/MIL.
