Thunder Look to Rebound after Shock Defeat
New York Knicks at Oklahoma City Thunder (1:00 pm EST); over/under 200.5 ; Thunder -10.5. INJURIES: NYK: Kenyon Martin (OUT), Andrea Bargnani (OUT) ; OKC: Russell Westbrook/OKC .
The Knicks have not done well this season in Sunday afternoon games, while the Thunder must be kicking themselves for losing a game in Orlando that seemed completely under control. I’m calling for a blowout here, though Kevin Durant/OKC and Carmelo Anthony/NYK remain solid anchor plays.
Chicago Bulls at Los Angeles Lakers (3:30 pm EST); over/under 194.5; Bulls -2. INJURIES: CHI: Carlos Boozer (D) ; LAL: Jordan Farmar (D), Nick Young, Jodie Meeks, Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant (all OUT).
A contrast in styles. Joakim Noah/CHI should have a field day, while most of the Lakers’ offense will come from the perimeter (Wes Johnson/LAL and Steve Blake/LAL).
New Orleans Pelicans at Brooklyn Nets (6:00 pm EST); over/under 194 ; Nets -5.5. INJURIES: NOP: Jrue Holiday (OUT), Ryan Anderson (OUT) ; BKN: Kevin Garnett (OUT).
Without Garnett/BLN, who will slow down Anthony Davis/NOP? The gangly sophomore is primed for a monster game, though his salary makes him risky.
Memphis Grizzlies* at Cleveland Cavaliers (6:00 pm EST); over/under 185; Grizzlies -3.5. INJURIES: MEM: Mike Conley (OUT), Tony Allen (OUT) ; CLE: Luol Deng.
You have to feel for Deng/CLE: traded from a situation in which he was thriving to one where he can’t find his role.
Dallas Mavericks at Boston Celtics (6:00 pm EST); over/under 199.5 ; Mavs -4. INJURIES: DAL: Monta Ellis (Q) ; BOS: Rajon Rondo (Q), Avery Bradley (Q), .
This one could go either way. The Celtics have looked much better in recent games and that should continue if Rondo/BOS gets a large helping of minutes. Though Jared Sullinger /BOS is a logical choice among Celtics, Gerald Wallace/BOS might be more cost-effective. If Rondo sits and Bradley/BOS is limited, Jerryd Bayless/BOS becomes a top bargain play.
Sacramento Kings at Washington Wizards (6:00 pm EST); over/under 205; Wizards -5 . INJURIES: SAC: Rudy Gay (Q), Marcus Thornton (Q); WAS: Al Harrington (OUT).
With Gay/SAC out or perhaps limited, conditions are good for Isaiah Thomas/SAC. DeMarcus Cousins/SAC is only fair value due to the stout Wizards’ front court.
Indiana Pacers at Orlando Magic (6:00 pm EST); over/under 190 ; Pacers -8 . INJURIES: IND: Lance Stephenson (Q), Andrew Bynum (OUT) ; ORL: none .
The value of almost ever Pacer is affected by the status of Stephenson/IND. Most positively affected if Stephenson doesn’t play will be George Hill/IND and David West/IND.
Philadelphia 76ers at LA Clippers (9:30 pm EST); over/under 220.5 ; Clippers -15. INJURIES: PHI: none ; LAC: Chris Paul (P), Hedo Turkoglu (Q), J.J. Redick (D) .
The Clippers welcome back Paul/LAC tonight and are poised to roll over the Sixers. Fill up on players from both sides and don’t forget to include a few bench players in case this one is a laugher by the end of the third quarter.
