Today Fantasy Spin will be the last one before the All-Star break: I will return on Tuesday for a look at the NBA games and DraftStreet. Most of the big name players in action last night came through with big games, and there were a few crucial sleepers that bolstered one’s chances in daily fantasy leagues at DraftStreet. LeBron James/MIA was King of the Hill, as the Heat needed every bit of his production to oust the Warriors 111-110. Kevin Love/MIN led the Timberwolves to an easy win over the Nuggets, while the Grizzlies stopped Orlando’s home court winning streak. Contenders Portland and Indiana lost, while the surprising Raptors had no trouble with the Hawks. Two prime time games are on the NBA schedule today- your last chance at a big prize in NBA DraftStreet leagues until next week. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
TOP GUNS:
LeBron James/MIA. He’s kicked it up a notch. Your turn, Durant/OKC. 14 of 26 FGA, 4 of 7 FTA, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals,2 TO, 36 points.
Kevin Love/MIN. With Kevin Martin/MIN and Nikola Pekovic/MIN out, Love will take on extra offensive responsibility and this is what happens when he’s on his game. 11 of 20 FGA, 4 of 4 FTA, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 block, 1 TO, 32 points.
Trevor Ariza/WAS. The Wizards’ starting five matches up well with almost everyone, but somehow that doesn’t translate into more wins. 11 of 20 FGA, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 2 TO, 32 points.
James Harden/HOU, Dwight Howard/HOU, Blake Griffin/LAC, Tristan Thompson/CLE, Ricky Rubio/MIN, DeMar DeRozan/TOR, Chris Paul/LAC, Carmelo Anthony/NYK, John Wall/WAS.
SLEEPERS:
Jordan Hamilton/DEN. Great game for Hamilton but it didn’t stop the Wolves from blowing out the Nuggets. 7 of 14 FGA, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, 1 TO, 16 points.
Marco Belinelli/SAS. He stepped up to fill the Tony Parker/SAS void. 6 of 12 FGA, 2 of 2 FTA, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 TO, 16 points.
Gustavo Ayon/ATL, Nate Wolters/MIL, Alexis Ajinca/NOP, Jimmer Fredette/SAC, Nick Calathes/MEM, Jerryd Bayless/BOS.
DISAPPOINTMENTS:
Anthony Davis/NOP. Played less than 20 minutes and wasn’t effective. 5 of 10 FGA, 2 of 2 FTA, 1 rebound, 2 steals, 1 block, 2 TO, 12 points.
Jared Sullinger/BOS Had a tough matchup against Tim Duncan/SAS and the Spurs. 2 of 9 FGA, 7 rebounds, 2 TO, 4 points.

DraftStreet NBA Contests
The $22 Big Wednesday event debuted last evening and “donaldwells” was $10,000 richer when it ended. His team scored 272 DraftStreet points to win by 5.25 points over “naapstermaan”. Massive bargain plays Nate Wolters/MIL, Nick Calathes/MEM, and Tristan Thompson/CLE led the way for the contest winner. The $50,000 guaranteed prize pool contest didn’t fill and the 2,117 runners enjoyed an overlay courtesy of the good folks at DraftStreet. My team finished just out of the money in 385th with 218.5 points due to the sub-par games from Dion Waiters/CLE and Marreese Speights/GSW. There are already qualifiers up for the next Big Wednesday contest, but they fill quickly so don’t dawdle if you want to win your win into next Wednesday 50K for a discount.
Though there are only two NBA games on tap before most the players take a well-earned break, DraftStreet has a regular slate of contests in the NBA lobby. Included among them is the $2/$5,000 and $22/$8,000 GPPs. If you don’t have a DraftStreet account, you can sign up HERE.
