There was plenty of action last night on the NBA hardwood floors. Most games went according to script, though the Magic defeat at the hands of the Bucks and the Pistons’ loss to the Bobcats were mild upsets. The Spurs couldn’t stop Blake Griffin/LAC, but had enough depth to beat the Clippers in Los Angeles. Don’t count the old guys out just yet. There are 11 games on the NBA schedule tonight and the highlight at DraftStreet is the return of the $22 big Wednesday 50K Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
TOP GUNS:
LeBron James/MIA. King James once again tops the pile. He got support from Chris Bosh/MIA, but Dwayne Wade/MIA isn’t close to the dominant payer he was a few years ago.
Al Jefferson/CHA. Last night (playing against a big front court) is further proof that Big Al is one of the very best centers in the game, perhaps at the top of the list.
Blake Griffin/LAC. Proving to be a great offensive player. Can he improve his defense and become an all-time great?
Andre Drummond/DET, Goran Dragic/PNX, Dirk Nowitzki/DAL, DeAndre Jordan/LAC.
SLEEPERS:
Evan Fournier/DEN. Several Nuggets needed to step and they did, but Denver fell in overtime.
Tyler Zeller/CLE. Anderson Varajao’s/CLE replacement and had a great matchup against the Sixers.
Nate Wolters/MIL, Patrick Mills, SAS, Kenneth Faried/DEN.
DISAPPOINTMENTS:
Michael Carter-Williams/PHI. Played through an illness and was ineffective.
Josh Smith/DET. The type of player who benefits from playing often; showed his rust.
DeMar DeRozan/TOR, James Johnson/MEM, Rodney Stuckey/DET.
DraftStreet NBA Contests
The second $22 big Wednesday 50K event runs today, a chance to win thousands for a modest investment. Satellites have been running in recent days and last night I was fortunate enough to win a $22 voucher for tonight’s contest. Last week, the 50K didn’t fill and that made for overlay for those astute enough to register. Tonight’s contest is just over half full, so overlay is a possibility once again. Don’t miss out.
For those interested in even meatier propositions, another DraftStreet Basketball Championship Qualifier runs tonight – a $109 buy in with the winner joining 29 others to carve up a half million dollars in the final round. If you don’t have a DraftStreet account, you can sign up HERE.
