With all the players moving at the trade deadline, via trade or buy-out, it will be a few days before the dust has settled and we can judge the new balance of power in the two conferences. Last night, as I predicted, the Spurs were not able to contain the Suns without their key players in the lineup (Kawhi Leonard/SAS and Tony Parker/SAS remained sidelined, though Tim Duncan/SAS played started and played limited minutes). The Knicks looked to have things in hand, but the Magic rallied and won in the second overtime. The Bulls continued their winning ways and, sans Luol Deng/CLE and Derrick Rose/CHI, must be taken seriously as a team that can do damage in the playoffs. Tonight’s schedule is a little lighter than a typical Saturday, but there is no shortage of NBA action at DraftStreet. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
TOP GUNS:
Victor Oladipo/ORL. With Glen Davis out of the picture, Oladipo entered the starting five in a three-guard set and had a monster game.
Carmelo Anthony/NYK. Not a surprise.
Thaddeus Young/PHI. He is the last remaining Sixer veteran. With MC-W/PHI showing signs of rookie fatigue, it makes sense that everything is going to run through Young.
Enes Kanter/UTA, Robin Lopez/POR, Chris Paul/LAC, Anthony Davis/NOP, Greg Monroe/DET
SLEEPERS:
Victor Oladipo/ORL. One of the top sleeper games of the year.
Enes Kanter/UTA. Still inconsistent, but has established himself as the Jazz best big man.
Ishmael Smith/PNX. A true sleeper, therefore not to be relied upon going forward.
Kent Bazemore/LAL, Markieff Morris/PNX,
DISAPPOINTMENTS:
Goran Dragic/PNX. If the Spurs want to shut you down they’ll generally find a way.
Monta Ellis/DAL. Wasn’t needed as the Mavs led all the way.
Nick Calathes/MEM, DeMarre Carroll/ATL, Wilson Chandler/DEN, Patrick Mills/SAS.
