Another Big Wednesday at DraftStreet is upon us, with $10,000 to shoot for in tonight’s 50K. There’s plenty of stars and sleepers to choose from, as 20 teams take to the NBA hardwood floors. In last night’s action, the Pacers took the Lakers to the woodshed in the second half, while the Timberwolves pulled away from the Suns. James Harden/HOU and the Rockets smashed the Kings, showing why they will be among the most dangerous teams to face come playoff time. The Wizards and Raptors won as expected, further solidifying their playoff positions, while the Bulls rallied to beat an injury-riddled Hawks squad. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
TOP GUNS:
Kevin Love/MIN. Despite his stratospheric DraftStreet price he continues to provide good fantasy value. 10 of 22 FGA, 10 of 14 FTA, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 blocks, 3 TO, 33 points.
James Harden/HOU. When healthy, a super-elite (though somewhat risky) fantasy performer.
Damian Lilllard/POR. Taking on more responsibility with LaMarcus/POR out.
J.J. Hickson/DEN, Joakim Noah/CHI, DeMar DeRozan/TOR, John Wall/WAS.
SLEEPERS:
Shabazz Muhammad/MIN. Minnesota’s top reserve last night, with 24+ minutes. 8 of 13 FGA, 4 of 6 FTA, 6 rebounds, ,1 assist, 2 steals, 1 TO, 20 points.
Kent Bazemore/LAL. A sleeper only on paper, as it is now clear he has taken hold of the keys to the Lakers offense.
Dante Cunningham/MIN, Ish Smith/PNX.
DISAPPOINTMENTS:
Kendall Marshall/LAL. Has lost minutes and touches to Bazemore/LAL and Jordan Farmar/LAL. 18 minutes, 0 of 3 FGA, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 4 TO, 0 points.
DeMarcus Cousins/SAC. Combination of a tough matchup and a self-inflicted (figurative) wound.
Anthony Bennett/CLE. He was getting more minutes and production, but the arrival of Spencer Hawes/CLE may dampen both.
DraftStreet NBA Contests
The third Wednesday 50K is just hours away and the contest is just over half full, so overlay is a possibility. If you weren’t able to win a voucher through a satellite, you can buy one if you have enough StreetCredits. Barring that, you’ll have to part with $22 for a shot at thousands. In other news, Qualifier #27 for the DraftStreet Basketball Championship runs today. Win it and join 29 others for your share of a $500,000 prize pool with $100,000 going to first place. There are also 50K satellites up in the lobby for next week’s Wednesday bash.
A reminder that the end of the month is near, so regular DraftStreet players should ensure they earn enough DraftStreet Credits to make it to their desired level. I have my eye on 1,500+ Street Creds, which would renew my Silver status. If you don’t have a DraftStreet account, you can sign up HERE and begin accumulating DraftStreet Credits.
