Sheridan’s MVP Rankings, March 12 Edition: Durant Still No. 1 For Me

1		KEVIN DURANT, F, OKLAHOMA CITY: Needed only 22 shots Tuesday to reach 40 points for the 11th time this season; his offense was too much for a hot Houston team to overcome. Durant has 34 games of 40-plus points over the last five seasons; Melo and Kobe are tied for second with 24 apiece.	1
2		LeBRON JAMES, F, MIAMI: The 61-point night was nice, but when it is followed by three straight Ls – including games where James shot 6-of-18 and 8-of-23 – it is not time for a bump. James’ jumper belongs on a milk carton lately, and the Heat missed a golden opportunity to put the slumping Pacers in their rear-view mirror.	2
3		BLAKE GRIFFIN, F, LA CLIPPERS: There was an urge to move him up after he went for 37 on 14-of-16 shooting vs. Phoenix. But as much as we like what-have-you-done-lately nights, we still take the bigger picture into account. Although Clips are third in the West with an eight-game W streak and could catch OKC, James has done more to carry the Heat.	3
4		AL JEFFERSON, C, CHARLOTTE: We can go back and forth on the bigger All-Star snub – this guy or Kyle Lowry. But there’s no arguing the ‘Cats wouldn’t be seventh in the East without Big Al, who is averaging 28.0 ppg and shooting 61 percent in March. As good as Lowry has been, he has an All-Star sidekick in DeMar DeRozan.	7
5		JOAKIM NOAH, C, BULLS: Putting some heat on Lance Stephenson (4) for the lead in triple-doubles. Noah has three and has finished just shy five other times (missing by 2 assists or fewer). More importantly, he supplies the mojo that makes the Bulls the NBA’s biggest overachievers despite being dead last in PPG.	–
6		STEPHEN CURRY, G, GOLDEN STATE: Like Noah, he breaks back in with a bullet on account of Dubs’ eight straight wins as they head into a must-watch matchup with equally hot Clips tonight. Curry’s PPG is 3.3 points higher than career mark, and he is dropping two more dimes than he averaged in his first four seasons.	–
7		JAMES HARDEN, G, HOUSTON: Has 20-plus points in 10 of last 11 games. Eight are wins, explaining his consecutive POWs. Carried the Rockets in loss at OKC on Tuesday as Dwight Howard no-showed despite not facing nemesis Kendrick Perkins. Harden has gone for 30 or more 15 times, eight less than LeBron and 24 fewer than Durant.	6
8		GORAN DRAGIC, G, PHOENIX: Everyone’s favorite Slovenian (sorry, Boki Nachbar) takes a tumble as the Suns fall out of the West’s top eight. Nine of next 10 are against the East, and I’d reckon they need to win eight to stay in the hunt. Two of their final three games are against Memphis and Dallas. But will they still be alive?	4
9		JOHN WALL, G, WASHINGTON: Shooting nearly 50 percent in his last 10 games and averaging a sick 11.2 assists in March. I love this stat: He has made 78 3-pointers this season at a 33 percent clip after making a total of 49 in his first three seasons. Wizards have won eight of 10, which no other East team can boast.	10
10		PAUL GEORGE, G-F, INDIANA: We should probably toss him after his 0-for-9 stinker vs. the Bobcats. But you can’t put too much on one game – or ignore that the Pacers still top the East in large part because of this guy. Four-game skid made the Torontos and Chicagos of the world less anxious about the prospect of playing Pacers in postseason.	9
