Fresh off giving away $150,000, DraftStreet is running satellites for yet another $100,000 contest. Look for them in the NBA lobby for a chance to win a voucher to the NBA $100K Playoffs Big Score and a $20,000 first place prize. This one starts on April 19 and finishes on April 20, the two-day format being a wrinkle common to NBA Playoff leagues. If you don’t have a DraftStreet account, you can sign up using this link.
While March Madness has reached the Elite Eight, it’s a relatively light Saturday schedule of six game in the NBA. Anthony Davis/NOP torpedoed a lot of DraftStreet lineups last night after injuring his ankle and leaving after only a few minutes of play. He is a game time decision and thoroughly avoidable against the Spurs tonight. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
What’s Happening at DraftStreet
$100K Satellites: five, from $1 to $11.
Salary Cap: $11/$5,000, $55/$6,000, $2/$4,000, $109/$5,000 and two others.
Pick’em: $22/$2,000, $5/$750.
Remember to register at least 10 minutes before the roster deadlines. Saturday’s contests start at 7:30 PM EDT.
My Lineup at DraftStreet
The following is my recommended lineup, subject to change, for the $11/$5,000 Standard Payout GPP at DraftStreet (closing at 7:30 pm EDT). You are required to have three guards, three forwards, one center and one wildcard/utility player for a legal eight-player lineup in DraftStreet NBA contests:
F-Blake Griffin/LAC-$19.984, C-DeAndre Jordan/LAC-$15,071, F-Dirk Nowitzki/$14,454, G-Brandon Jennings/DET-$12,732, G-Ramon Sessions/MIL-$12,247, G-Jamal Crawford/LAC-$10,441, F-Matt Barnes-$8,869, F-Udonis Haslem/MIA-$5,738
An alternative is to stream Pistons (i.e. five or six of them) plus James Anderson/PHI.
Clippers Ready for Rockets
Detroit Pistons* at Philadelphis 76ers (7:30 pm EDT); over/under 211; Pistons -6 . INJURIES: DET: none ; PHI: Tony Wroten (OUT).
As bad as the Sixers have been, this game is no lock for the tremendously inconsistent Pistons. Still, Brandon Jennings/DET, Josh Smith/DET, and Andre Drummond/DET are a useful three-play, with Greg Monroe/DET not far behind. James Anderson/PHI has been playing well for the Sixers and is solid value tonight.
Atlanta Hawks at Washington Wizards* (8:00 pm EDT); over/under 197; Wizards -5.5 . INJURIES: ATL: Pero Antic (P), Kyle Korver (Q), DeMarre Carroll (Q). Al Horford (SEASON); WAS: Nene Hilario (OUT) .
The Wizards might be in for an emotional let down after a wire to wire win over the Pacers last night. Normally, I’d expect the Hawks to take advantage, but they’ve been terrible. Don’t expect John Wall/WAS to be quite as busy as usual. Bradley Beal/WAS is a good spec play.
Los Angeles Clippers at Houston Rockets (8:00 pm EDT); over/under 216.5; Rockets -1.5 . INJURIES: LAC: Danny Granger (OUT), J.J. Redick (OUT) ; HOU: Dwight Howard (OUT), Patrick Beverley (OUT)
Two high octane teams jockey for playoff seeding meet in Houston. Dwight Howard/HOU will not be available, giving the Clippers the edge in the paint. A lot will depend on the ability of James Harden/HOU and Jeremy Lin/HOU to create opportunities for their teammates. Omer Asik/HOU is a useful cheap play at center.
Sacramento Kings at Dallas Mavericks (8:30 pm EDT); over/under 206; Mavs -10 . INJURIES: SAC: Isaiah Thomas (Q), Derrick Williams (Q), Carl Landry (SEASON) ; DAL: none .
Dirk Nowitzki /DAL has shown he has a lot left in the tank, recently battling Blake Griffin/LAC to a standstill in a narrow defeat at the hands of the Clippers. He’s one of my top value plays against a depleted and unmotivated Kings squad.
New Orleans Pelicans* at San Antonio Spurs* (8:30 pm EDT); over/under 201; Spurs -13 . INJURIES: NOP: Anthony Davis (Q), Eric Gordon (Q), Brian Roberts (Q), Ryan Anderson, Jrue Holiday, Jason Smith (all SEASON) ; SAS: Danny Green (OUT), Matt Bonner (OUT) .
Another case of overwhelming Spurs depth wearing down decent front line talent. Who knows how many Spurs regulars will be rested, but there will be enough talent to handle the Pelicans even if Davis/NOP plays.
Miami Heat* at Milwaukee Bucks (8:30 pm EDT); over/under 198.5; Heat -9 . INJURIES: MIA: Greg Oden (Q), Dwayne Wade (Q). Mario Chalmers (Q), Ray Allen (OUT) ; MIL: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Q), O.J. Mayo (Q), Larry Sanders (SEASON), Ersan Ilyasova (SEASON), Nate Wolters (SEASON)
The Heat won’t be the Heat of old until Dwayne Wade/MIA is healthy enough to tally consistent minutes. They should have enough to win, though Ramon Sessions/MIL is a nice groove and the Bucks have several dangerous weapons.
