Giannis Antetokounmpo has truly come a long way to be where he is right now: a wide-eyed, just-turned 19-year-old kid who is learning the ropes of being an NBA player in his first season. He came from a poor background – so poor that he actually shared a pair of sneakers with his brother whenever he had to play basketball. He is a fun character and has shown flashes of brilliance so far, so when you read about the road taken

Big Day For ‘The Big Diesel’, Shaquille O’Neal
There are many names for four-time NBA champion and future Hall of Fame great Shaquille O’Neal—many of which he has given himself: The Big Aristotle, The Big Galactus, Shaqtus, Diesel, Steel and Hobo Master (yes, Hobo Master) among others. Thursday O’Neal celebrated his birthday. After a long NBA career and continued success off the court, perhaps it’s time to consider a new name…perhaps The Big Father Time? As he continues to grow older, his popularity still remains. Three of the basketball organizations
DraftStreet Fantasy Spin: Thursday, March 6, 2014
If you adopted my recommended lineup for last night’s 50K/$22 buy-in/$10,000 first prize, you are likely happy with the result. First of all, if you didn’t participate you missed out on significant overlay. Second, because there were very few standout performances and lots of major busts, the winning score was a mere 252.5 points by “Marblesnap”, just a half-point ahead of second place “paulpierce3434”. My recommended lineup scored 232.25 points, with only Robin Lopez/POR and Ersan Illyasova/MIL weighing the lineup
Rookie Rankings, Week 18: An Otto Porter Sighting
The best thing about top overall pick Anthony Bennett’s tremendously disappointing rookie season is that it has provided cover for some tremendously disappointing seasons by other rookies. Namely, Otto Porter. Porter was taken third in the 2013 draft by the Washington Wizards and has been worse than Bennett. Much worse. Bennett is averaging 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting just 35 percent from the floor. Pedestrian numbers, for sure, and unacceptable for a top pick who is expected to contribute right away. But
Heisler to Donald Sterling: Congrats on No Longer Being the Local Wretch!
Donald T. Sterling Sterling World Plaza Beverly Hills, Calif. 90210 Dear Donald, Just thought I’d check in to console you, as I have always done at this point of the season when everything is lost, your coach is shaky and you’re about to lose however many players are on expiring contracts. Hey, it’s not easy being second fiddle to the Lakers here. If the Lakes eclipse the Dodgers and Angels, too, at least the baseball teams play in summer. You play in the same arena at
SH Blog: Parsons says he would boo Howard if he was still a fan, Woodson says Knicks still have a shot
The clip above is what the Orlando Magic decided to show in the second quarter of the game against the Houston Rockets when Dwight Howard came to town on Wednesday. It was a short tribute video for all the marvelous years Howard gave to the franchise. The question is, why in the world would the Magic do this? Were they really looking to honor and thank Howard for his time with the team? If that was truly what they had in mind, that’s

Tweet of the Night: Andre Iguodala says he saw Tupac while playing against the Boston Celtics
After an impressive victory over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, the Golden Warriors made sure they didn’t follow it up with let-down game against the lowly Boston Celtics. The Warriors came out blazing from the start with a 12-2 lead and never looked back on their way to an easy 108-88 blowout victory, ending their six-game road trip on a high note with a 4-2 record. They led by as many as 31 points in the third quarter, as the Celtics
