Many of today’s NBA athletes have endorsements with major corporations that often require them to be featured in a television commercial. A lot of them have their predecessors to thank for having broadened the reach of the NBA’s global marketing arm. Greats like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were prominently featured in high profile marketing campaigns during their playing careers. Recently, with such bold personalities like four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal, the door for retired NBA athletes to continue marketing

Sheridan’s MVP Rankings, March 5 Edition: What Do the Readers Say?
It’s a two-man race. We all can agree on that, right? But who is the more worthy candidate: LeBron James? Or Kevin Durant? This week, we let y’all have your say as we post a poll within this post. You can even vote for somebody else if you so choose, but the majority of folks will vote for the player who leads the league in scoring or the player who went off for 61 points on Monday night. Once you cast your ballot,

Schayes: Playoff Push is On; Will New Faces Help in Indy, LA? Or Will We See Adrian Dantley 2.0?
As the season winds down, several teams are working to put that final piece in place that might make the difference. From my experience, this is a high-risk proposition. Indiana added Evan Turner, hoping that he will change his spots. While an argument can be made that they needed a mature guy to play limited minutes and deepen an already deep rotation, they opted instead to roll the dice with the notorious knucklehead who is playing for a new contract. Wouldn’t they
Tweet of the Night: Klay Thompson credits bench for coming up big after hitting game-winning shot
When the Golden State Warriors are working on all cylinders, there is no team they can’t beat in the league. Need proof? They are the only team to beat both the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers on the road this season. The problem is that the Warriors have not been clicking on all cylinders for much of the season. While boasting the third best defensive rating in the league, their 13th best offensive rating has often been bad enough to cost them plenty

SH Blog: Tyson Chandler not sold on Knicks; Embiid could miss Big 12 Tournament; Dragic is becoming elite in Phoenix
With so many playoff and seeding races heating up as the NBA heads into the final month of its regular season, it pains me to lead off this blog with the New York Knicks. But that’s just how dysfunctional they have become. They are 2-13 since Feb. 1 and continue to regress each and every game. They are 6.5 games back of the Atlanta Hawks for the 8th-seed in the Eastern Conference with 20 games to play. This season is most certainly lost, so
Tweet of the Day: Phoenix Suns, Leandro Barbosa Honor Fallen Detective
While Pheonix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers square off Tuesday, the team and its players will be honoring a fallen police detective. John Hobbs, 43, was a 21-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department. He and his partner, 44, were both shot while attempting to arrest an ex-convict, identified as William Thornton, for violation of probation. According to Police Chief Daniel Garcia, Thornton, who was also a key suspect in a Feb. 25 attempted murder case, “immediately opened fire” on Hobbs and his
