Last night I played in several leagues and came up empty. For some reason I put my faith in Greg Stiemsma (never again) and he didn’t even grab a rebound. Joakim Noah and LeBron James did well for me, gathering over 80 fantasy points between them. I bought Reggie Evans from Sacramento for only $6,998 and he did work. With 12 rebounds he ended up being one of my more successful players from Monday.
To begin the month of April the NBA has given us only three NBA games to watch. But there’s lots of good fantasy options hidden in these rosters. Teams in action include the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks; three teams that are all fighting for better playoff position in the West.
Fresh off giving away $150,000, DraftStreet is running satellites for yet another $100,000 contest. Look for them in the NBA lobby for a chance to win a voucher to the NBA $100K Playoffs Big Score and a $20,000 first place prize. This one starts on April 19 and finishes on April 20, the two-day format being a wrinkle common to NBA playoff leagues. If you don’t have a DraftStreet account, you can sign up using this link.
Remember to register at least 10 minutes before the roster deadlines. Tuesday’s games begin at 7:00 PM EDT.
My Lineup at DraftStreet
Today I took a different approach, instead of buying a few star players then picking from the B team the rest of the way, I bought a balanced roster.
Dirk Nowitzki was my most expensive player at $15,764. He’s been surprisingly good this season and most importantly, he’s going up against a Golden State Warriors team without Andrew Bogut and David Lee. I got Kendall Marshall from the LA Lakers for a steal, at only $9,065 he should get extra minutes if Steve Nash sits out tonight. And I took a gamble on Klay Thompson at $11,781, hoping he will light it up from the land beyond.
Today’s NBA Games
Houston Rockets at Brooklyn Nets
The Nets have won 13 straight at home (I know, sounds weird) but Houston is much tougher than their usual competition. Paul Pierce ($11,277) had 22 points Sunday against Minnesota, look for him to do the same here. Dwight Howard is likely sitting this game out so James Harden ($20,246) should have a big game.
Golden State Warriors at Dallas Mavericks
This game is more important than it seems. The Warriors have been hit-and-miss lately against good competition and Dallas is fighting for the seventh seed with the Memphis Grizzlies breathing down their neck. A sleeper in this game could be Samuel Dalembert ($11,341). The Warriors are thin up front, look for him to take advantage.
Portland Trail Blazers at Los Angeles Lakers
Rumors have been swirling around about coach Terry Stotts possibly in hot water because of the Blazers recent fall from the top of the West. This is a game the Blazers must win. LaMarcus Aldridge ($19,288) is always a good fantasty option. For LA we know anyone could have a good or bad game, just look what Chris Kaman did Sunday. Maybe do eenie meenie miney mo.
