DeMarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings somehow only managed to score 69 points against a battered Golden State Warriors team Friday. Andrew Bogut, David Lee and Festus Ezeli were all out and the Kings didn’t bother to attack the rim. I had Cousins on my DraftStreet fantasy team, he had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Maybe Sacramento was just anxious for Rudy Gay, who is currently anticipation the birth of his first child. But no one on the Kings delivered last night.
Today is a huge day for basketball with the NCAA Final Four happening in Dallas, but there’s also six NBA games tonight (nothing exciting I should add).
Fresh off giving away $150,000, DraftStreet is running satellites for yet another $100,000 contest. Look for them in the NBA lobby for a chance to win a voucher to the NBA $100K Playoffs Big Score and a $20,000 first place prize. This one starts on April 19 and finishes on April 20, the two-day format being a wrinkle common to NBA playoff leagues. If you don’t have a DraftStreet account, you can sign up using this link.
Take a look at my fantasy team for tonight.
The only safe options on my fantasy team are Joakim Noah ($18,699) and Al Jefferson ($18,875). They’re both expensive but are playing weak competition and should both lead in team productivity. I’m taking another shot on Arron Afflalo because I like his price of $9,885, he’s let me down in the past but he’s due for a big game.
Saturday’s NBA Games
Minnesota Timberwolves at Orlando Magic
The Magic might actually win a game. The Wolves are fresh off a double-OT victory in Miami and had to make the three-hour trip north on a back-to-back. They have to be exhausted. Go with Afflalo for fantasy, see above.
Chicago Bulls at Washington Wizards
Believe it or not, the Bulls average less points per game than the Pacers. Chicago is the only team that can lose its best player and not miss a beat. The Wiz have been playing well lately. Trevor Ariza ($11,143) has been having his best year with Washington.
Charlotte Bobcats at Cleveland Cavs
Fans north of the border have their fingers crossed for a Bobcats victory. Everyone in Raptors nation is praying for a first round matchup with the Bobcats, a team they’re confident they can beat. Cleveland is young and has a lot of off the court distractions right now. It will be hard for the Cavs to pull out a win tonight.
Boston Celtics at Detroit Pistons
The Celtics are painfully inexperienced in the front court. Detroit has two star big men in the making and should look to take advantage down low. Jared Sullinger used to be my go-to for Boston, but his price was recently raised to $11,983.
Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers
Old vs. Young. Usually the young guns get the upper hand in sports, but not in this case. After their horrendous start, the Nets have changed its fortunes and are eyeing that third playoff spot. I still like Paul Pierce ($10,761) in fantasy, he’s proven once or twice he can have a big game.
Toronto Raptors at Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks need this loss almost as much as the Raptors need this win. Milwaukee has been fighting hard to finish dead last in the league and are doing pretty good thus far. Toronto is fighting to hang on to that third seed with Chicago breathing down their neck. DeMar DeRozan had a quiet game last night against Indiana by his standards, look for him to go off.
