After a one-day absence in respect to the 2014 college basketball National Championship Game, the NBA returned with extraordinary action. Two sure-fire Hall of Famers continued to move up all-time lists, something was achieved for the first time in LeBron James’ career and The Streak finally ended.
Here’s everything that you need to know about last night’s action.
1. Dirk Nowitzki posted 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting as the Dallas Mavericks took down the Utah Jazz 95-83. It was a balanced attack for the Mavericks, which received double-digit scoring from six separate players and continued their late-season push for the postseason.
Dirk passes Oscar Robertson to move into 10th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
2. In a game with absolutely no defense, the Houston Rockets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 145-130 in regulation. James Harden and Terrence Jones both scored 33 points for the Rockets, while Nick Young posted 32 and Jodie Meeks had 30 for the Lakers.
The true story from last night’s game: Lakers point guard Steve Nash passed Mark Jackson to move into third on the NBA’s all-time assists list.
3. In a slow-paced game, the Brooklyn Nets went on the road to pull out an 88-87 win over the Miami Heat. Joe Johnson scored 19 points and Marcus Thornton put up 16 points, six rebounds and four steals to help the Nets earn a season sweep of the defending champion Heat.
The Nets are the first team to sweep the Heat during the Big 3 Era and the first to ever take all four regular season games from a squad with LeBron James on it.
4. Caron Butler scored 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Sacramento Kings 107-92. Kevin Durant finished with 23 points, which were all scored during the first three periods of play due to his decision to rest for the entire fourth quarter.
Durant’s streak of scoring at least 25 points ends at 41 consecutive games.
5. Rodney Stuckey scored a season-high 29 points as the Detroit Pistons defeated the Atlanta Hawks 102-95. Greg Monroe added 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Andre Drummond went off for 19 points and 17 boards as Detroit overcame 24 and 12 from Paul Millsap.
The Pistons have won consecutive games for the first time since Feb. 10.
