Phil Jackson fired Mike Woodson today. It’s just the beginning. http://t.co/uwae8kYYML

No surprise that Phil Jackson fired Mike Woodson and his staff this morning. Glad he didn’t let things linger long.

Reached out to Steve Kerr, who respectfully declined comment on Knicks situation.

Kerr said on his radio show “writing was on wall” for Woodson firing and “anticipates” speaking to Phil. No timetable.

Steve Kerr on NBA Radio: “I do anticipate talking to Phil Jackson at some point…I do anticipate at least being part of the conversation.”

That leads us to TNT NBA analyst Steve Kerr, considered by many to be Jackson’s top choice, who (as mentioned) addressed the situation on NBA Radio.
I think this was largely circumstantial but this is the way the NBA works, the coach is usually the first one to pay. I feel bad for Mike, I think he’s done an excellent job in New York, but between the struggles of the team this year and the new regime with Phil Jackson I think this was — and I don’t think I’m the only one saying this — I think the writing was sort of on the wall the last couple of months. And now here we are.”
Former New York Knicks forward Steve Novak responded to the news.

Its only Downhill from here for the Knicks, but they don’t know that yet.
Bulls should be calling on Melo, after they lose to Wizards, and Melo must be dreaming already of fitting in with that team, or possibly Houston or even the Wiz (he grew up in Baltimore).
Woodson was the best coach the Knicks have had in over a decade, and he had the respect of the players. How is Steve Kerr going to get the respect of all the players if he has no experience? How is he going to get the respect of his Asst. Coaches, whoever they are? Is Kerr going to pick out his assistants himself, or will PJax do that for him?
Will PJax want to remake the team in his image, or tie up cap space with Melo’s $24 million salary during the key 2015-2016 season, that will balloon to 29 million in Melo’s 5th year? Or will PJax let Melo walk, and pray that LeBron wants to represent The Mecca of Basketball in July 2015? I don’t expect the Heat to win any championships, this year or next.
The future looks Grim to me for the Knicks.
