Our partners over at TiqIQ did an interesting piece on how the Mavericks are killing the Spurs at the box office that we thought was interesting. It’s pretty amazing that a team with the history and success have the second lowest price NBA Playoff tickets. Also, interesting, the lowest price belongs to the Pacers, which means that the two lowest ticket prices on the secondary market both belong to number one seeds. Here’s an excerpt from piece the piece on Forbes.
“While the Mavs are unquestionably dominating the Spurs when it comes to average ticket prices on the secondary market, the Mavericks also now have the third highest playoff premium in the league, behind only Wizards Playoff tickets and Raptors playoff tickets. Since winning game two, the average price of game four has spiked 35% to a current average price of $319. The price for game six next week is even higher, with an average price of $349 and a get-in price of $87.”
Since the piece was written, it seems that things have gone from cheap to cheaper for the Spurs. Prices on the secondary market are now as low as $33, while tickets on the primary market are as cheap as $49.50. which is 33% below face price. In looking through the Spurs Website, there are about 1,000 tickets available and over 5,000 on the secondary market. If the Spurs can’t find a way to win tomorrow, price could get even lower.
