Last night was an absolutely enormous game for the San Antonio Spurs as they will were able to take the lead in their highly contested series with the Dallas Mavericks and now hold a three games to two advantage in the series. The Spurs were led by Tony Parker who played one of the best games of his career even though he didn’t get a wink of sleep heading into the pivotal Game 5 being that his first child was born late the night before. Parker was noticeably excited before the game and with his son there the new father was able to score 23 points.
The Mavericks got an age defying performance guard Vince Carter who saw him go for a game high 28 points on 10 for 16 shooting despite being 37 years old. Yet, the Spurs were just too much for the Mavericks as they had no answer for San Antonio backup center Tiago Splitter with DeJuan Blair being suspended for Game 5 for kicking him. Splitter turned in another solid performance contributing 17 points and 12 boards in the win.
Since Wednesday nights Game 5 ended there has been a ton of movement surrounding ticket prices for Game 6 of this series. For example before tip-off on Wednesday Spurs tickets for Game 6 were averaging $261 making it the most expensive game of the series, however when the intrastate rivals will meet again on Friday for Game 6 with tickets will now be going for $60 less averaging $201, down by a total of 23%. The steep decline in ticket prices in just one day can only be attributed to the fact that the Mavericks won’t be able to close out the series in front of their home crowd and many don’t want to pay a hefty price to see them potentially get eliminated. However Mavericks fans can still Get-in to Friday nights Game 6 at the American Airlines Center for as little as $49 if they act quickly, a nominal fee for a game of this magnitude.
