The Memphis Grizzlies will host the Oklahoma City Thunder Thursday night in Game 6 of their first round series at the FedEx Forum. The Grizzlies enter the game with a 3-2 series lead and a chance to clinch a series victory in what would be a big upset, as many expected the Thunder to go deep into this year’s playoffs. As surprising as a Grizzlies victory would be, what’s more surprising is the price of remaining secondary market tickets for the game.
Grizzlies playoff tickets for Game 6 have an average of price of just $79.30 with limited tickets remaining, according to TiqIQ. That is only 27.6% over their regular season average against one of the more popular and exciting teams in the league in the OKC Thunder. The get in price for tonight’s game is just $38.
During the regular season, Grizzlies tickets had an average price of just $62.10, the cheapest average ticket price in the regular season compared to the other 15 teams in this year’s NBA playoffs.
As for the series itself, fans have been treated to one of the most competitive in recent memory. After 14 points decided Game 1, each of Games 2 through 5 have needed an overtime to decide a winner.
The defense of the Memphis Grizzlies has been a major factor, as OKC’s best player and winner of four scoring titles, Kevin Durant, has had four straight poor shooting performances. Overall, the Grizzlies defense has contained one of the better offenses in the league and for the series the Thunder are shooting under 40% as a team.
Another potential series-clincher will be in Atlanta tonight as the No. 8 seed Hawks are on the verge of upsetting the No 1 seed Indiana Pacers. The Hawks hold a 3-2 lead over the Pacers and Game 6 will be on their home floor at Philips Arena, but Hawks playoff tickets for Game 6 are barely above their home regular season average of $106.98. Currently, the secondary market average price of $115.24 is behind only Memphis for the least expensive game of the first round.
Prices will go up for the next round if both of these teams do advance, but Game 6 will represent the best value on both the Grizzlies and Hawks playoff schedule.
