If the the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs was unforgettable, then the second round has been… Well, it’s been forgettable.
Day 2 of the second round mirrored Day 1 with a pair of lopsided victories. After road teams took the first two battles, however, home teams and defending postseason conference champions stood their ground and blew out their respective opponents by more than 20 points.
Here’s everything that you need to know about last night’s action.
1. LeBron James finished with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead the Miami Heat to a 107-86 demolition of the Brooklyn Nets. Deron Williams and Joe Johnson combined for 34 points on 14-of-21 shooting, but the rest of the Brooklyn squad combined to shoot 19-of-49, 38.8 percent, from the field.
The win snaps Miami’s four-game losing streak against the Nets.
2. LeBron joins Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan as the only players in postseason history to reach 4,000 points, 900 assists and 900 rebounds. LeBron is the fastest player in NBA history to reach the 4,000-point plateau.
3. Ray Allen scored 13 points during the first round. He had 19 points in Game 1 against the Nets.
4. Tony Parker put on a show with 33 points and nine assists on 13-of-24 shooting to lead the San Antonio Spurs past the Portland Trail Blazers 116-92. Marco Belinelli scored 19 points to lead the Spurs’ bench to a 50-point outburst. By comparison, the Trail Blazers’ second unit had 18.
The Spurs have won eight consecutive Game 1s at home.
5. Tim Duncan recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes. It was Duncan’s 152nd career postseason double-double, which is second to just Magic Johnson, who finished his career with 157.
Bonus Fact: Duncan has played in 219 career postseason games. This was Portland’s 219th playoff game as a franchise.
