Center Andrew Bynum will miss the remainder of the NBA Playoffs and will not be with the team: http://t.co/5oSCPBWGXu pic.twitter.com/8xld7sr7jI

Of course, Bynum’s availability was limited to just two games this year for Indiana. His previous track record did not him spare him from criticism.
Wow.. The Pacers have just announced Andrew Bynum won’t play in the playoffs. In related news.. sky is blue, water is wet — trey wingo (@wingoz) May 7, 2014
Bynum aside, the team has other problems to attend to. One, brought to the public’s attention on Twitter by ESPN’s Numbers Never Lie, pertains to their inability to protect the home court advantage that they sought after all season long.
The Pacers were 35-6 at home during the regular season. They have already lost 3 of their first 5 games in Indy this postseason. — Numbers Never Lie (@ESPN_Numbers) May 7, 2014
Three losses to two wins is not exemplary of the Eastern Conference’s top-seeded team.
In contrast, the Miami Heat, the 2-seed in the East, has yet to lose a game this postseason, after stumbling their way into the playoffs while ensuring their star players got sufficient rest.
Beyond basketball woes, as Washington Post columnist Mike Wise suggests, perhaps the Pacers locker room culture is not as professional or safe (with regards to political correctness) as it should be.
Pacers’ pre-game locker room is pounding gangsta rap with Tiger and the Game. Apparently the n-bomb debate is not happening in Indiana.

Oh, my bad, dawgs. It’s TYGA and The Game. And it’s straight-up filthy, like where some guys on the team look uncomfortable listening.
— Mike Wise (@MikeWiseguy) May 7, 2014
B–ch this, H- that. Nbombs. If I was Adam Silver, I would take a hard look at locker room music as part of a mutually respectful league.
— Mike Wise (@MikeWiseguy) May 7, 2014
That’s not to say that these players should not be permitted to listen to music before games or that they shouldn’t listen to the aforementioned artists, but—in light of the recent locker room bullying scandal that rocked the Miami Dolphins in the NFL, perhaps all professional sports teams should give careful consideration to the locker room environment that they provide.
At least, that is what it Wise seems to be suggesting.
I, personally, enjoy hip hop—though, I do not listen to Tyga or The Game. So, walking into a locker room with such music blaring, though the language may not be to my liking, would be intolerable to me. However, I can see how it could bother others much more greatly. And, considering that NBA locker rooms are open to the media, there is a reasonable argument to be made against such music being played so audibly.
Music, understandably so, has always been a great pre-game motivator for professional athletes. Many of today’s athletes show up for games with headphones on, getting themselves amped up for the task at hand—winning.
Perhaps, to ensure no one is offended or uncomfortable entering the locker room, the Pacers should encourage a headphone policy during media availability.
Outside of serious topics relating to political correctness and on-court performance, the Pacers public relations department should get kudos for the sense of humor they displayed in the media dining area.
Not sure how IND is going to play, but Pacers media dining room dry erase board is going hard #wizards pic.twitter.com/jG9lebblfa

The Pacers are presently battling the Wizards in Game 2 in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indiana. They’ll need to keep Washington’s frontcourt, Nene and Marcin Gortat, off the glass and temper the explosive play of guards John Wall and Bradley Beal if they hope to split their home games to start the series.
