Among professional sports in America, the National Football League reigns supreme, but one would like to think that playoffs for any of the other major sports would be more important than the first round of another league’s draft.
Apparently not.
ESPN, which holds the broadcast rights to Thursday’s NBA playoff games, also hosts the NFL’s draft. Guess which show got top billing? Football’s offseason. Game 2 in Miami will be broadcast on ESPN 2, while 32 former college athletes will sit around waiting for a pro-football team to call their name from a podium.
In spite of whatever intrigue remains for the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat second round NBA Playoffs series after a 22-point Game 1 blowout, there is a lot of intrigue among NBA players for tonight’s NFL Draft.

Unlike the others, Milwaukee Bucks point guard Nate Wolters isn’t simply approaching the 2014 NFL draft with excitement, curiosity or hope—he has a daring admission.
I feel like with draft day this is a good time to admit that I wanted Vikings to take Brady Quinn at 7 instead of AP.
— Nate Wolters (@NateWolters) May 8, 2014
Wow, Nate!? Really? Brady Quinn over Adrian Peterson? That’s a lot of honesty there. Better that you play basketball and not manage player personnel for NFL teams.
At least, among those looking forward to the Draft, NBA great Magic Johnson is also excited for Thursday’s series of NBA second round Game 2’s.
I’m looking forward to the Heat vs. Nets and Spurs vs. Trailblazers, both series play Game 2 tonight.
— Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) May 8, 2014
I also can’t wait to see who the #1 pick will be tonight in the NFL Draft!

Not unlike many other sports fans in America, I enjoy the NFL too. Fortunately, some living rooms have two televisions in them for just this purpose.
Time to watch some sports.
