No lead is safe in the 2014 NBA Playoffs.
If you’re still questioning whether or not you should be watching what has been a lackluster second round, your concerns have been eradicated. Two separate teams trailed by at least 19 points on Sunday, May 11, and both of those teams pulled off remarkable comebacks.
Here’s everything that you need to know about last night’s action.
1. The Los Angeles Clippers erased a 22-point deficit and stormed back to shock the Oklahoma City Thunder 101-99. Chris Paul led the charge with 23 points and 10 assists, and Darren Collison scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to lead Los Angeles to a stunning comeback.
Kevin Durant scored 40 points for the first time in a playoff game since April 27, 2013, but he also committed eight turnovers during OKC’s collapse.
2. Collison scored 18 points in Game 4. He had 18 total points in the first three games of the series.
3. The Clippers have won 12 playoff games in their past three seasons. They earned 11 postseason victories in their first 27 seasons in Los Angeles.
4. Paul George erupted for a playoff career-high 39 points, 12 rebounds and two steals to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 95-92 victory over the Washington Wizards. The Wizards led by as many as 19 points, but George and Roy Hibbert stepped up in the second half to help Indiana secure the second unbelievable comeback of the day.
Indiana won in spite of its second unit. The starters scored 93 of the team’s 95 total points.
5. George is the first Pacers player to score at least 35 points in a playoff game since Anthony Johnson in 2006.
Bonus Fact: May 11 marks the first time since 1998 that two separate teams came back from deficits of 15 points or more to win playoff games on the same day.
