Tweet of the Day: NBA Players React to Jay-Z and Solange Altercation

Twitter blew up Monday.

TMZ broke a story early Monday morning unveiling surveillance footage obtained from the Standard Hotel’s elevator after the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala a week earlier.

The video shows hip hop mogul and former Brooklyn Nets minority owner Jay-Z, his wife Beyonce, her sister Solange Knowles and another man—presumably a body guard, entering the elevator, wherein Solange appears to have words with the rap icon before abruptly throwing punches and kicks at him.

Twitter users went crazy, posting all sorts of comments and comical memes. Quite a few NBA athletes took to Twitter to express their own views.

It is not known what Jay-Z may have done or said to elicit such an outburst and attack from Solange, so we should not assume anything in this situation as that would be unjust.

However, it is commendable—as some of the athletes suggest—that he refrained from retaliating and maintained his composure.

Perhaps this situation shines light on a rather curious Instagram post that Beyonce posted last week.
