The 2014 NBA Playoffs resumed and the blowouts continued on Tuesday, May 27 as the Oklahoma City Thunder battled the San Antonio Spurs. The Western Conference Finals featured its fourth consecutive lopsided affair, this time bringing the series to a draw.
Here’s everything that you need to know about last night’s action.
1. Russell Westbrook posted 40 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and five steals, and Kevin Durant scored 31 points on 11-of-22 shooting as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-92. It was a lopsided game throughout, with OKC grabbing a commanding lead behind Durant’s scoring and Westbrook’s all-around play.
Westbrook scored 40 points. San Antonio’s starting lineup scored 39.
2. Westbrook is the 1st player with at least 40 points, 10 assists and five steals in a playoff game since Michael Jordan in 1989.
3. Westbrook joins MJ as the only players in NBA history to record at least 40 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and five steals in a postseason game. Steals became an official statistic in 1973-74.
4. Westbrook is the first player with at least 40 points and 10 assists in a playoff game since Stephen Curry on May 6, 2013. The only active players to post at least 40 points and 10 assists in a postseason outing are Westbrook, Curry, Kobe Bryant, Tony Parker and Rajon Rondo.
5. Tony Parker passed Dennis Johnson for ninth on the NBA’s all-time postseason assists list.
Bonus Fact: Call it random if you’d like, but Manu Ginobili passed Bill Russell to become the all-time leader in points scored by a left-handed player in the playoffs.
