As the San Antonio Spurs closed out the Western Conference Finals in a 112-107 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the stage is now set for the 2014 NBA Finals. For the second year in a row the Spurs will face off against the reigning champions the Miami Heat, in a rematch that will surely be worth the hype.
After taking Miami through a grueling 7 game series last season, San Antonio will be looking to redeem their selves this year.On the other side of that, Miami is on their fourth straight trip to the Finals, and will be looking to win their 3rd championship in a row. Many around the NBA took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the match-up immediately following the conclusion of the Western Conference Finals.

Don’t forget, the Finals are not only a Spurs vs. Heat rematch, but also a LeBron vs. Duncan rubber match — Dave McMenamin (@mcten) June 1, 2014
Since Final rematches aren’t unique to the modern NBA, the history of them should also be noted of course.
The last time there was a Finals rematch. Bulls and Jazz, 97 and 98. Bulls won in 6 both times

It should also be said that the Spurs know exactly what they’re getting into once they play Miami again. Veteran leader Tim Duncan has already let it be known that the Spurs playoff success will be looking to win 4 more games, thus securing their next NBA championship.
Duncan calls his shot: “We’ve got four more to win. We’ll do it this time.” Who’s ready for the rematch? — Deuce Mason (@DeuceMason) June 1, 2014
The NBA Finals start this upcoming Thursday, June 6th.
