As the NBA Finals shift from the pizza oven of San Antonio to the curtain-like humidity of Miami, should we be surprised that the Heat and Spurs split the first two games?
Not really. The teams split the first two games in Miami a year ago, and it looks like they are settling into what should be another long series to decide the NBA champion.
But that doesn’t mean the series hasn’t been without surprises thus far.
For the Heat, it has been how they discovered their defense in the second half of Game 2 after six quarters of allowing the Spurs to have basically anything they wanted.
For the Spurs, it has been how Tim Duncan went scoreless in the fourth quarter of Game 2 after completely dominating the paint to that point.
In the video below, I talk with Cinesport’s Brian Clark about those factors, how superstar LeBron James insists on making the right basketball play rather than the selfish play and what the Spurs need to rediscover in Game 3 on Tuesday.
