With LeBron James making the decision to opt out of his current contract, the speculations have been rampant on Tuesday.
The most likely scenario that many believe will happen is that James would simply re-sign with the Heat for another multi-year deal – perhaps for a cheaper amount to help the team score better talent in the market – but anything goes when a player of his caliber becomes an unrestricted free agent.
Some of the more unlikely scenarios that have been drawn up include the idea of James going to Los Angeles to team up with Kobe Bryant or Chris Paul. Others believe it’s not out of the question for him to want to join the Golden State Warriors to pair up with Stephen Curry.
The more realistic options for James include the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets. The Bulls defense combined with his offensive abilities would make them scary, while joining James Harden and Dwight Howard also presents an intriguing opportunity.
Plenty have shared their thoughts on what’s next for James, including Metta World Peace, who has been writing for Rant Sports as a special guest:

Here’s an excerpt from his piece:
Say what you want, but five trips to the Finals is not an easy task. Ask a loser. I truly believe next year will be the best basketball since Oscar Robertson’s era. Coaches are holding players more accountable. This was the first time in a long time the bigs were used throughout the season and playoffs. “We need our bigs.”
Imagine if LeBron had a center last year. Imagine if LeBron had a center ever. So my pick is that LeBron will find a mobile, big defender of a center and make a push again.
Although World Peace did mention that he would like to see James go to New York or Los Angeles, his piece doesn’t necessarily explain what James may do. He does mention the idea of James finding a mobile center who can defend. The Heat don’t necessarily have that at this point, so he may be suggesting the idea of recruiting a center for his current team, or go pair up with Howard or Joakim Noah.
