12:12 a.m. Eastern
-Billy King could not talk about the 59th and 60th picks on record but those deals should be finalized by the end of the night. Xavier Thames and Cory Jefferson, who were selected by other teams, will be Nets.
11:53 p.m. Eastern
-Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the newest Knicks player. He hopes to bring energy and effort to the team, he told reporters.
11:44 p.m. Eastern
-The Knicks just took Thanasis Antetokounpo, the older brother of Milwaukee’s Giannis. He played for Delaware in the D-League last year.
11:43 p.m. Eastern
-Our Michael Scotto confirmed an ESPN report that the Bucks traded Lamar Patterson, who they just picked, to the Hawks for a second round pick. Patterson poured in 17 points per game last season for Pittsburgh. He shot 38.8 percent from three last season for the Panthers and has length.
11:35 p.m. Eastern
-Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Sixers are trading Louisville’s Russ Smith, who they just picked, to New Orleans for the rights to PG Pierre Jackson. Jackson is another stash player who played in Europe last season after a standout career at Baylor.
11:29 p.m. Eastern
-Brooklyn takes Oklahoma State Markel Brown with the 44th pick bought from Minnesota for $1 million. The 22-year-old was Marcus Smart’s backcourt mate.
11:20 p.m. Eastern
-The Nets just bought the 44th pick from Minnesota, Andy Katz reports.
11:18 p.m. Eastern
-Philadelphia is loading up on quality second round players with KJ McDaniels and Jerami Grant. Grant was college teammates with Michael Carter-Williams at Syracuse.
11:12 p.m. Eastern
-Memphis will acquire Jarnell Stokes from Utah for a 2016 second round pick. My analysis here.
11:07 p.m. Eastern
-The Barclays Center crowd was very excited about the Sixers’ pick of KJ McDaniels and the Knicks’ pick of Cleanthony Early. Both can be immediate contributors to their teams.
10:55 p.m. Eastern
-Ric Bucher reports that Norris Cole would be part of a rumored sign-and-trade that would send Kyle Lowry to Miami. Our Michael Scotto is gathering information.
10:48 p.m. Eastern
-San Antonio takes Kyle Anderson with the final pick of the first round, which I think is genius. He’s a versatile player who can learn under a whole group of champions.
10:38 p.m. Eastern
-Speaking of the Miami Heat point guard position, check out this rumor from Ric Bucher: Miami is working on a sign-and-trade deal for Toronto’s Kyle Lowry that would allow Chris Bosh to opt out of his contract and return to the Raptors. Take that in for a second.
10:30 p.m. Eastern
–LeBron James is an admirer and Mario Chalmers is a free agent who’s now likely on the outs. So how does Shabazz Napier feel about possibly becoming the starting point guard of the Miami Heat? I asked him.
“There’s always an opportunity to do something great. No matter if I was gonna slide in as the starter or come off the bench, I still gotta work hard. That’s who I am. My attitude will never change. Whether the head coach told me I was the starter or not right away. I’m still gonna work like I was not on the team. That’s what brought me here.”
Napier said the Heat were not in contact with him before the draft but he’s very thankful to be in this position.
10:11 p.m. Eastern
-Miami will trade the 26th and 55th picks along with a future second-round pick to Charlotte for Shabazz Napier, Brian Windhorst reports.
10:09 p.m. Eastern
-Shabazz Napier is being traded to the Miami Heat, ESPN and numerous outlets report. Miami just got its new starting point guard and LeBron James’ top choice. Goodbye Mario Chalmers.
10:06 p.m. Eastern
-Toronto is working on trading for Tyler Ennis of Phoenix, David Aldridge reports. Ennis is an Ontario native.
9:54 p.m. Eastern
–Here’s my analysis on tonight’s two trades thus far.
9:51 p.m. Eastern
-It was said that Mitch McGary had a promise in the first round. Turns out it was Oklahoma City. He should really still be in college, his drug suspension was kinda BS, but he’ll help the Thunder.
9:46 p.m. Eastern
-Bruno Capoclo just got picked by Toronto. In the first round. Make fun of me all you want, but I had never heard of him until just now. Fran Fraschilla just said “he’s two years away from being two years away.”
9:36 p.m. Eastern
-Just talked to Andrew Morrison, the agent for new Nuggets draft pick Jusuf Nurkic. Morrison is very excited to get Nurkic to the Nuggets, who’s an internationally friendly team that won 58 games just two years ago. Most importantly, Nurkic is coming this year to play in the NBA, Morrison told SheridanHoops. And with Evan Fornier bound for Orlando, a spot opens up in the frontcourt for Nurkic.
Nurkic just got to the U.S. less than 48 hours ago and though “he probably couldn’t find Denver on a map,” as Morrison said, he’s really excited to get to the NBA.
9:32 p.m. Eastern
-Phoenix just took a point guard in Tyler Ennis and Eric Bledsoe is slated to be a restricted free agent. Stay tuned on this one.
9:25 p.m. Eastern
–Houston is working on trading the 25th pick for a future selection, Marc Stein reports. Will a team out of the first round jump in?
9:15 p.m. Eastern
-Adreian Payne is a really good pick for the Atlanta Hawks. He can stretch the floor as a power forward and give Al Horford room to operate inside.
-What an amazing and incredible gesture by the NBA for giving Isaiah Austin this moment. It’s something I won’t forget.
9:05 p.m. Eastern
-Denver will get a future second round pick from Chicago in the Doug McDermott trade, Ken Berger reports.
9:01 p.m. Eastern
-Our Michael Scotto thought that there was more to this Sixers-Magic swap of Dario Saric and Elfrid Payton and there is. CBS’ Ken Berger reports that Philadelphia gets a 2015 second round pick from Orlando and a protected 2017 first round pick in the deal.
8:54 p.m. Eastern
-We have another trade. Orlando is sending Dario Saric, the 12th pick, to Philadelphia for Elfrid Payton, the 10th pick. The Sixers get to stash a really talented player on their long rebuild and the Magic get their new point guard with Jameer Nelson on the downside of his career. Payton will form a dynamic backcourt with Victor Oladipo.
8:50 p.m. Eastern
-We just said the shooting in Denver was redundant and now we have a trade, our first of the night. Denver is sending Doug McDermott to Chicago for the 16th and 19th picks. The Bulls got a really good shooter and McDermott won’t really have to create his own shot if Derrick Rose is healthy and Joakim Noah is attracting attention down low. I like the addition for Chicago.
8:47 p.m. Eastern
-Here’s Julius Randle, the newest Lakers pick.
And the newest Charlotte Hornets pick, Noah Vonleh:
8:43 p.m. Eastern
-Denver just doubled up on shooters today with Arron Afflalo via trade and Doug McDermott with the 11th pick. Nuggets really upgraded its shooting.
8:38 p.m. Eastern
–Philadelphia just took Elfrid Payton 10th and Zach Lowe thinks he could get traded tonight.
8:35 p.m. Eastern
-In between a couple of surprising picks, Nick Stauskas to Sacramento and Noah Vonleh falling to Charlotte at 9, I talked to Boston’s Marcus Smart on being on the same team with Rajon Rondo:
“I’m excited because he’s a wonderful player. He reminds me a little of me, he’s long, he’s got the wingspan, he’s got big hands like me. And just being able to learn from a guy that’s been in the league and been through my seat and my situation. That’s an amazing feeling and a great opportunity.”
I asked Randle if he was disappointed by being picked by a team with an established point guard like Rondo. “No, not at all. I understand that you gotta come in and earn your spot and earn your keep. And that’s who I am. I like to earn things and I like to work hard. And that’s what I’m gonna keep doing.”
8:20 p.m. Eastern
-Our Michael Scotto reports that the Boston Celtics passed on Noah Vonleh due to character concerns.
8:17 p.m. Eastern
-I’m a big fan of the Dante Exum pick for the Jazz. He’ll form a really strong backcourt with Trey Burke and not have to have all that big market pressure from Boston and L.A.
Marcus Smart’s floor is pretty high, and I think he’ll work well for Boston. Now what do they do with Rajon Rondo?
-The Kings reportedly declined a trade that would have included a swap of the 8th and 11th picks with Denver.
8:14 p.m. Eastern
-Andrew Wiggins’ press conference comments: “My dream was just to make the NBA and now, going to high school and college, the opportunity and possibility of going number one came into talk and now I accomplished that. It’s a crazy feeling right now.”
I asked Wiggins about his new head coach, David Blatt: “I ran into him when I was working out for Cleveland at their facility. I know that he’s a great coach, a European coach. Nobody has ever not liked him, he’s a really good coach and I think we could do great things for our team with him and help us on the come-up.
8:04 p.m. Eastern
-After a slight surprise from Philly with Embiid at 3, Orlando went with Aaron Gordon at 4. Our Michael Scotto reports that Gordon was always the Magic’s top choice. “He was our guy all along, a source said.”
7:48 p.m. Eastern
-We expected this top two. But what the Sixers do at 3 will dictate the next several picks. Exciting 5 minutes.
7:41 p.m. Eastern
-Andrew Wiggins is the second consecutive Canadian player to be taken No. 1 overall. Chad Ford and others says Jabari Parker is next to Milwaukee.
7:34 p.m. Eastern
-Loud applause for Adam Silver, who’s presiding over his first Draft. Cleveland is on the clock.
7:30 p.m. Eastern
-If Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid are the first three players selected, Orlando is reportedly torn on who they’ll take with the fourth pick.
–Boston is reportedly standing pat and 6 and 17, Chris Mannix says, but who will they take. We’re about to find out answers.
7:20 p.m. Eastern
-Things are a bit quiet right now here at the Draft, but it seems like Noah Vonleh could slide all the way down to the Lakers at 7, if not further, Adrian Wojnarowski says.
-Memphis has rebuffed the Clippers’ attempt to trade for Tony Allen, Marc Stein says.
7:05 p.m. Eastern
-We’re about 25 minutes away from the Draft beginning and it seems like the Cavs have made up their mind on who they’re taking. Here’s Joe Kotoch’s final mock draft to get you ready.
-Is Brooklyn going to buy its way into the first round of the Draft? They’re trying, according to Marc Stein.
6:55 p.m. Eastern
-League sources tell our Michael Scotto that a report that the Hornets offered Gerland Henderson and the 24th overall pick to Orlando for Arron Afflalo are not true. Afflalo was traded to Denver earlier in the day for Evan Fournier and the 56th overall pick, which seems like a head-scratcher right now.
-Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Arizona forward Aaron Gordon will go earlier than both Noah Vonleh and Julius Randle, which would be an enormous surprise. Woj always seems to know things we don’t, so watch out for that.
–New Orleans is shopping guard Austin Rivers, Wojnarowski also reports.
6:45 p.m. Eastern
