As the whole world seemingly sits in suspense, awaiting The Decision II from LeBron James, a few shrewd teams have been hard at work, trying to improve their rosters. One such team, once thought to be in the hunt for one of the marquee free agents, is the Dallas Mavericks.
Another team, the Houston Rockets, still awaits a decision from LeBron, as what he chooses will greatly impact the decision that Miami Heat teammate Chris Bosh makes—whether to stay in South Beach or to accept an offer sheet for a max contract to play alongside Dwight Howard and James Harden.
While LeBron, teammate Dwyane Wade and, even, star free agent Carmelo Anthony have all kept silent in the press with regards to their intentions, Bosh has openly stated that his preference would be to play with James.
Houston is all-in on Bosh, having extended him a four-year, $88 million offer sheet from the Rockets. Their goal was to test his resolve and see if he’d be willing to commit without confirmation from LeBron. Now, however, the tables have turned.
The Dallas Mavericks, who have been steadily working to strike deals to improve their roster this offseason, have reached an agreement with Houston’s prized restricted free agent Chandler Parsons.
ESPN sources say Mavericks and Rockets RFA Chandler Parsons have reached agreement on three-year offer sheet worth in excess of $45 million

Chandler Parsons will have player option in 3rd year, source told ESPN. Could become unrestricted free agent. Rockets have 3 days to match.

Hearing DAL is trying to get creative with Chandler Parsons offer sheet. Possibly to front or backload it, make it tougher for HOU to match

This deal spells trouble for Houston, as they only get 72 hours to match the offer. If they have not secured a decision from Bosh before that time, they will be forced to decide which player they prefer to have.
Opting to match Dallas’ offer sheet to keep Parsons would eliminate Daryl Morey’s ability to sign Bosh, as they would no longer have the cap flexibility to commit to a max salary contract. This is a shrewd move for Mark Cuban and Mavs GM Donnie Nelson.
This puts a strict time limit on their in-division rivals. Can the Rockets risk waiting for Bosh and potentially losing Parsons? Or, do they pressure Bosh to talk to LeBron, confirming (one way or the other) what he should do with his own future endeavors?
At least, this move puts a three-day time limit on when we can expect a definitive answer regarding at least one of the four star free agents this summer.

By this time tomorrow everything should be settled.
LeBron to CLE;
Melo chooses to continue to be a Wealthy Loser, and stays with Knicks.
Bosh accepts HOU offer and Lin gets traded. Then HOU matches offer for Parsons and all is happy in HOU.
Then we wait on Deng, Ariza and Stephenson. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cuban makes crazy bid for Paul Pierce early next week, but Pierce wants to stay in B’klyn.
