Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott, coming off a First Team selection at the recently completed Las Vegas Summer League, is among two rookie rookie chosen for the USA Select Team announced Tuesday. McDermott averaged 18.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in four games in Las Vegas. The 2014 NBA Summer League finally came to a conclusion on Monday with the Sacramento Kings coming out on top against the Houston Rockets 77-68. Ray McCallum, who is expected to see more playing time for the Kings next season with the departure of starting point guard Isaiah Thomas, scored 29 points in the contest – including this impressive game-clinching basket – to win the MVP honors. Former Los Angeles Lakers guard and current WNBA Atlanta Dream head coach Michael Cooper has been diagnosed with early stage tongue cancer. The Dream announced that Cooper will undergo surgery at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta this week. The doctors expect a full recovery — typical recovery time is two weeks.
