Training camps around the NBA will be opening in just a few short weeks, but that isn’t stopping players from perfecting their crafts before then.
Miami Heat owner Mickey Arison took note of this today, as he applauded rookie point guard Shabazz Napier on his social media accounts for his humorous shot selection. Napier was drafted by the Miami in the first round this year, and is expected to contribute behind veterans Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole this season.
That shot will come in handy during the season. Lol #LetsGoHEAT http://t.co/tEBMqkoq16

The shot being referenced was actually a trick shot made by Napier. The act was recorded on Instagram, and it captures the rookie point guard basically having fun with his workout. With the grind of an 82 game season approaching, Napier certainly deserves to enjoy this carefree time while he can. Once training camp commences for the Heat, things will speed up fast for the rookie as he’ll have to prove that Miami was right choosing him as their first round pick.
It’s also good to see Arison showing excitement for one of his younger players as Miami prepares to defend their place in the Eastern Conference this season. After playing in four straight NBA Finals, the Heat opted to retool their roster after the departure of LeBron James in free agency this off-season. With several new additions including forwards Luol Deng and Josh McRoberts, Napier joins a roster that is expected to be competitive this season.
