Over the summer, NBA players like to kick back and enjoy their time off after a long season. Most go on some sort of vacation with friends or family or just continue working on their game.
Paul Pierce, however, hangs out with star actors on private planes.
Okay, maybe it was just this one instance, but still. More and more, famous athletes and actors are seen together at parties and events as the line between sports and entertainment becomes more blurred. I’m not saying every athlete is a celebrity, but when your nickname is as smooth as “The Truth,” Pierce could be considered a celebrity.
Pierce is entering his 17th season and won an NBA championship and Finals MVP in 2008 with the Boston Celtics, with whom he ranks in the top five in virtually every statistical category.
In a photo he posted to his Twitter and Instagram accounts, Pierce is seen hanging out with legendary actor Al Pacino, star of The Godfather, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface, Scent of a Woman and Any Given Sunday.
Pierce captioned the photo as “Bosses Chillin.”
Because why wouldn’t you want the world to see you with Al Pacino? Hanging out and drinking with Tony Montana? Sign me up for that.
Pierce, who signed with the Washington Wizards in the offseason, was scheduled to go see one of Pacino’s shows out in Las Vegas this past summer when they eventually wound up flying out on the same jet. He even got a chance to visit Pacino in his hotel suite at the Bellagio – where they both stayed during their trip – and hangout with a “select group” of people.
In a post on Dan Steinberg’s DC Sports Bog, Pierce gives more details on how it all went down and what they did while on the jet and in Vegas.
