Finally, we have real basketball action. Yeah, it’s just the preseason, but it’s better than nothing. There are plenty of new story lines throughout the league, and preseason basketball can be a spark to light the fire in some upcoming rivalries.
For example, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat. They aren’t exactly rivals, but with the “Decision” and “I’m Coming Home” stories that effected both teams similarly, every time the two face off against each other they’ll be under a microscope.
Regarding this possible rivalry, the NBA big wigs decided to match the two in a preseason game that is scheduled this upcoming Saturday, October 11th. The game will be played in Anderson Varejao’s home country of Brazil, in Rio De Janeiro. Varejao posted this photo to Instagram Tuesday as the Cavaliers prepare for their trip to meet the Heat in South America.
The funny thing about this picture, other than it not really being Varejao, is that it pretty much sums up his game. This was actually a photo posted to Matthew Dellavedova’s Instagram, the backup point guard for Cleveland. Close enough, though.
Dellavedova captioned the photo saying it was his best Varejao impression.
What I mean by it basically being Varejao is that if he’s not rolling around on the floor for loose balls or attached at his opponent’s hip, he’s doing this exact gesture. A lot.
All jokes aside, the Cavs and Heat matchup should be a good one to watch, even though it’s not a regular season game. This will be the first time LeBron James will face his former team until their regular season bout on Christmas, which will also be the first time back in Miami for James.
