We all know that LeBron James is from Northeast Ohio. Akron, to be precise, which is about 40 minutes or so south of Cleveland. Being this close to Cleveland, home of the Browns, you would think James would sport the orange and brown of the “Dawg Pound” on football Sundays.
However, that is not the case. The Cavs star is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He has been known to show his support for Dallas throughout his first stint with the Cavs and throughout his entire career.
He posted this photo earlier Monday to show support for his favorite NFL team after they went into Seattle and beat the defending Super Bowl Champion Seahawks.
“When someone say ‘Man your Cowboys stink!!’ I say ‘Yeah I know we do sitting at 5-1. Hahaha'”, James captioned under the photo.
He’s definitely got a valid point here, even after his favorite team has been criticized much like he once was before he won his first NBA title. For those who are familiar with the NFL and the Cleveland Browns, during James’ early years they were a pretty strong franchise for most of the 1980s, although the team still didn’t win a Super Bowl.
Then came the 1990s for Cleveland, and just about everything collapsed for their beloved Browns. The team was actually moved from Cleveland to Baltimore at the end of the 1995 season but would later return in 1999. This was perhaps another reason King James doesn’t support his hometown team like he does Dallas.
At that time, the Cowboys were among the NFL’s best, winning three Super Bowls from 1992-1995. Widely considered “America’s Team”, there’s really no mystery as to why James and a number of fans his age turned to the Cowboys for their rooting interest.
James should be more concerned about representing another team from Cleveland, his Cavaliers, and bringing the city its first NBA title since the franchise was founded in 1970.
