It’s not that often that something happens that’s either funny or newsworthy enough to merit following up on Tweet subject from the previous night.
However, early this morning, as most of America, at least those of us on the east coast, were sleeping, former NBA star and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Gary Payton shared some hilarity that he found on social media.
News outlets in practically every market had to report on the Sunday Night Football game between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, due to quarterback Peyton Manning breaking the NFL record for career touchdowns. However, it was during this news cast that a hilarious blunder occurred. The graphics operator failed to use the right Peyton/Payton in selecting a photograph to display on the news broadcast. Here is the result, as shared by Gary Payton, the NBA Hall of Fame player.

What makes this gaff most hilarious is the it happened on the local news in Seattle, where Payton spent most of his career with the Sonics. Not only that, the Seattle Seahawks obliterated Denver QB Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl just this February.
It’s surprising that someone, specifically in that news market, could fail to get their Payton/Peyton(s) right.
