There has been plenty of concern since the summer on whether Derrick Rose would be able to regain half the form that made him the MVP of the league a few seasons ago. The point guard was selected to play for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup, but was noticeably ineffective despite playing against mostly inferior competition.
After his breakout performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, the concerns are beginning to subside. Despite losing 107-98, Rose looked dominant on the floor, scoring 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field, including four-of-five shooting from the 3-point line to go with five rebounds, three assists and no turnovers.
He caught everyone’s attention after pulling off a move against Kyrie Irving that spun him around in circles, as seen below:
Perhaps out of respect for Irving (or the fact that it was preseason and most players probably don’t watch preseason highlights), most around the league didn’t react to Rose’s sensational move. We did manage to find one player who had no words for the play:
That reaction seems about appropriate.
