The King has finally returned. LeBron James is back playing in his first game for his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers since May 11, 2010. But he’s not the only thing returning to the court in Cleveland.
James was wondering whether or not he should bring back his signature pre-game chalk toss. So, how did he decide on what to do? He left it up to the fans. Again.
He broke the news once again via social media, this time through his Twitter account on Thursday before the Cavs tipped off against the visiting New York Knicks.
“You guys are incredible!!! Thank you”, James said above the photo.
The scene inside Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland for the Cavs first game of the year would prove to be everything it’s been cracked up to be. Jim Ice, a friend/partner of LeBron, was at the home opener and posted this picture to his Instagram.
These were packs of confetti, used to simulate LeBron’s chalk for every fan in the building.
One of the Cavs television broadcasters on Fox Sports Ohio, Fred McLeod, showed his followers who couldn’t be at the homecoming party just what they were missing. He posted this to his Twitter account.
With ESPN and TNT setting up shop in Cleveland for live broadcasts and television events, including performances by hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar and rock group Imagine Dragons, Cleveland is the talk of the sports world. Rightfully so, the Cavaliers will be under a microscope for what should be an exciting season, and all over national television.
