FUBAR, Excruciating, Manipulated. These were all terms that I used to describe the search for the new Executive Director of the NBPA. The process that was used to replace Billy Hunter was full of twists and turns, intrigue, and uncertainty. It lasted way too long and was managed clumsily. There was a vote that wasn’t, then a do-over when word circulated about a seemingly forced outcome. At the end of the day the final vote was done hastily amid protest. Then, against

NBA to Experiment With 44-Minute Preseason Game
If you’re like me, then you know that the best thing about League Pass is those Wednesday and Friday nights where there are 10 or 12 or 13 games and you can just keep bouncing around to watch the last four minutes of each one. One-possession game, four minutes to go. We all live for that crap, right? Well, this Sunday, NBA is taking those four minutes away. Sort of. Sunday’s preseason game between the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center
Five Things To Watch: Portland Trail Blazers
Things have changed in Rip City. For the Portland Trail Blazers, the 2013-14 season not only represented a return to the playoffs, it ended a drought of not making the second round that had lasted longer than a decade. Yes, the Trail Blazers got taken to the woodshed by the San Antonio Spurs in the conference semifinals, doing just enough against the eventual champions to avoid a sweep. But plenty of other teams got whooped by the Spurs, too. Winning against the Houston
SH Blog: Durant Debating Surgery, Carter-Williams Far from Return?
The injury heard around the world has been Oklahoma City Thunder small forward and reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant suffering a Jones fracture in his right foot. Durant is expected to be sidelined for somewhere between six and eight weeks, which means he could miss at least the first month of the season. According to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, there’s a new complication: Durant doesn’t know if he wants to undergo surgery. Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is still considering treatment options
Tweet of the Night: Wally Szczerbiak says he is ready to sign a 10-day contract with the Knicks
The New York Knicks brought in Phil Jackson to oversee all major activities as the president of the team last season. Jackson then brought in his former player Derek Fisher over the summer to be the new head coach moving forward. Put the two together and what we can expect from the Knicks is this: a good amount of the Triangle offense and plenty of movement without the ball. At least that would seem to have been the plan heading into
Photo of the Day: LeBron James Rocking Full Dallas Cowboys Gear
We all know that LeBron James is from Northeast Ohio. Akron, to be precise, which is about 40 minutes or so south of Cleveland. Being this close to Cleveland, home of the Browns, you would think James would sport the orange and brown of the “Dawg Pound” on football Sundays. However, that is not the case. The Cavs star is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He has been known to show his support for Dallas throughout his first stint with the
VIDEO: Durant’s injury opens up MVP race to … Westbrook?
Hard to get a feel yet whether there is a palpable sense of panic over Kevin Durant’s foot injury, or whether everyone is drinking Sam Presti’s Kool-Aid and expecting the reigning MVP back sometime around Dec. 1 — the best-case scenario laid out by the Thunder when the news of the injury broke Sunday. If Durant only misses the first four to five weeks of the season, OKC will be OK. The Thunder are already established as an elite Western Conference
Five Things To Watch: Washington Wizards
It’s been a long, long time since the Washington Wizards were expected to be a top team in the Eastern Conference. But after defeating the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 2014 NBA playoffs for their first postseason series win in nine years, the Wizards are entering a season with high expectations. How high? Well, there is some talk that after last season’s 44-38 mark, the Wizards could win 50 games – which they haven’t done since the 1978-79 season. Here
