Thanks, Mamba. West coast games start at this old man’s bedtime. While I slept, Kobe Bryant scored 55.75 fantasy points, Markieff Morris added 45.5 and Isaiah Thomas 45.75 to boost my total to 299.5, a personal best for this young season. The lineup I recommended in yesterday’s Spin paid off in six contests: $73.50 in cash and a free $27 ticket to the huge event tonight!
The $200K Crossover has a top prize of $20,000 cash. Quite a few high rollers enter multiple teams at $27 each, so qualifying once for a mere $2 is great for us little guys. There are 18,500 prizes in all; the top 500 places earn $100 or more. Payouts are guaranteed even if the maximum 8,400 teams are not entered by the 7:00 ET deadline.
Not a DraftKings player yet? Click that link for a free entry to win up to $5,000 in the $40K Layup. 4600 of up to 23000 teams earn cash. DK will match your initial deposit (up to $600) with bonus money that gets added to your account as you play.
My handicapping starts with an overview of all 12 NBA games, looking for opportunity in a few, before even checking individual salaries. DeMarcus Cousins $9900 isn’t a must-start because of inconsistent effort, but he’s capable of huge nights. Darren Collison $7000 and Rudy Gay $7700 are also playable.
Despite losing in Chicago last night, Nikola Vucevic $8800 and the Magic should feast on the hapless Sixers. Tobias Harris $5800, Elfrid Payton $4000 and Evan Fournier $4200 are attractively priced.
Game of the night is the Clippers at Warriors; DFS owners always root for overtime. Klay Thompson $7600 is on fire. Reggie Bullock $3000 got the start last game.
Miami must travel to Charlotte after a disappointing loss but Shawne Williams $3000 is still a bargain. Chris Bosh $9000 and Al Jefferson $8500 are literally the big men for their respective teams.
Kevin Martin $5100 is highly recommended. He just scored 33 points with three triples and seven boards in only his third game off the shelf and will soon cost much more.
Jimmy Butler $4900 is a great play, like he was yesterday. We warned you to be careful with Derrick Rose $6600, whose last-minute scratch ruined his daily owners. Joakim Noah $7000 was also a surprise DNP (illness) so Pau Gasol $7500, Taj Gibson $5200 and Nikola Mirotic $3000 got extra burn. The shocker was Aaron Brooks $4000 with 13 PTS, 8 AST and 3 BLK (!) in 30 minutes off the bench. Rose playing tonight would prevent him from repeating that line.
John Wall $9600 and Marcin Gortat $6800 are solid even in a back-to-back. The Wizards won easily in New York, so Gortat (who had some early foul trouble) played just 22 minutes.
Gary Neal $3400 just keeps outproducing that salary, with 21 PTS on 9-15 shooting last night. A cheap sixth man with a green light is often worth considering.
Though a Raptors fan, I don’t like them in DFS (too deep) and with Amir Johnson out and Jonas Valanciunas banged up in a back-to-back vs. the high-scoring Celtics, the prices on Jeff Green $6500 and Jared Sullinger $6700 are tempting.
There are many other players (and games) that could pay off for you tonight. If you’re only a bit better than me at picking winners, and have a bigger bankroll, an enjoyable hobby can become a lucrative sideline. See you at DraftKings. Good luck tonight!
