The 2014-15 NBA regular season continued on Tuesday, November 11. It was no ordinary day in the association, with three of the league’s all-time greats achieving miraculous feats.
Along with the legends, a cast of players and teams put forth sensational efforts. It highlighted a day in which six teams took part in 12 games.
Here’s everything that you need to know about last night’s action.
1. Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points and Tyson Chandler had 14 points and 11 rebounds to help the Dallas Mavericks get past the Sacramento Kings 106-98. Rudy Gay posted 26 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals for the Kings, but Sacramento ultimately fell short.
With his scoring outburst, Nowitzki moved into ninth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
2. By passing Hakeem Olajuwon, Nowitzki became the highest-scoring international-born player in NBA history.
3. Mike Conley scored 23 points to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 107-102 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant had 28 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals, and Carlos Boozer scored a season-high 20, but Los Angeles fell short of victory.
In his 10-of-26 shooting performance, Bryant passed John Havlicek for the most misses in NBA history.
4. Bryant passed Michael Jordan for No. 3 all-time in total field goal attempts.
5. At 1-6, the Lakers are off to their worst start since 1959-60.
6. Tony Parker scored 28 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 113-100 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Klay Thompson had 29 points and Harrison Barnes posted 22 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors.
Stephen Curry scored 16 points, but was 0-for-7 from beyond the arc to snap a 75-game streak with a 3-point field goal—the fifth-longest stretch in NBA history.
7. Duncan becomes the 11th player in NBA history to reach 14,000 rebounds.
8. Kyle Lowry posted 19 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals as the Toronto Raptors took down the Orlando Magic 104-100. Tobias Harris had 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Nikola Vucevic had 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals.
Evan Fournier scored a season-high 24 points in the defeat.
9. Damian Lillard scored 29 points and LaMarcus Aldridge posted 25 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Portland Trail Blazers past the Charlotte Hornets 102-100. Al Jefferson had 22 points and Lance Stephenson posted 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Portland trailed by as many as 23 points and didn’t take the lead until the 3:03 mark of the fourth quarter.
10. O.J. Mayo scored 19 points and Brandon Knight had 16 to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to an 85-78 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Reggie Jackson finished with 29 points for OKC, but it was Milwaukee which held on for the low-scoring victory.
Milwaukee has won consecutive games for the first time since March 19, 2013.
Bonus Fact: Dallas has won 21 consecutive home games over Sacramento.
