It’s Big Wednesday at DraftKings, with a trio of huge fantasy contests, each worth $100,000 in cash.
The $100K All-Star is for very high rollers. 100 teams pay $1060 each (multiple entries allowed) for a $20,000 top prize. Top 20 at least double their money. It’s a more reasonable $50 to enter the $100K Super Booster, where the top 100 finishers (out of a maximum 2,222 entries) each win $1000. Prizes are guaranteed even if the contests don’t fill. Such overlays improve the odds for everyone who enters.
Plays of the Day
I’m fortunate enough to have won a $2 qualifier last night, for a ticket into the $100K Crossover — $27 to enter, 4,200 teams, top 840 cash. First prize is $15,000. Last time this happened, I was content with a $60 consolation prize. Can’t win it unless you’re in it.
If you haven’t joined DK yet, click for a FREE entry (worth $2) to win as much as $5,000 in tonight’s $45K Layup, where 5,075 of 25,875 teams get paid. DK will also match your initial deposit 100% (up to $600) with bonus money that gets added to your account as you play.
Expect an easy time for the Celtics in Philly, especially Rajon Rondo $8800, Jared Sullinger $7300, Jeff Green $6900 and Avery Bradley $5000. Tyler Zeller $3200 is suddenly getting big minutes at C and Evan Turner $4300 will contribute off the bench. Stack those six and you can fill with two good players whose salaries total $14,500.
It’s been a long time since Dallas had a tough game. I was expecting one in Charlotte, where they romped by 27. Maybe tonight, we’ll finally see max minutes for the starters. You can build a strong lineup around Dirk Nowitzki $6900, Monta Ellis $6700, Chandler Parsons $6500 and Tyson Chandler $6400. John Wall $9000 may expose the Mavs’ weak spot.
Suns on the road in Boston? DFS gold, as predicted. Still on the road, in Detroit? Why not? Alex Len $3100 may help with size; Phoenix certainly has the speed advantage. Markieff Morris $6800, Goran Dragic $6500, Eric Bledsoe $6600 and Marcus Morris $4500 are excellent value in close games. Big nights from Isaiah Thomas $5300 and Gerald Green $4100 tend to occur when they are way behind.
Maybe the Rockets got bored, playing down to the level of competition — if OKC scores 65, we don’t need 70. They were no threat in Memphis, losing the first half 65-42. On the night, James Harden $10300 was -29 and Dwight Howard $9500 -27. Tonight Houston “should” bounce back against the Lakers, upset winners in Atlanta last night. Kobe Bryant $8800 always gets his, but Jeremy Lin $5800 and Carlos Boozer $6400 were vastly improved and Nick Young $3500 scored 17 points in his first 28 minutes of the season.
The defending champion Spurs are in Cleveland for the first ESPN game. Kyrie Irving $8000 is hot, LeBron James $10800 wasn’t feeling 100% on Monday but Kevin Love $8700 and the supporting cast are still figuring out their roles. This will be fun to watch, though the best basketball games aren’t always the greatest from a DFS perspective.
Grizzlies at Raptors is another dandy in real life, though James Johnson (ankle) is out indefinitely. Look elsewhere for a high score. Other games I’m ignoring are OKC @ DEN and CHA @ IND.
NYK @ MIN won’t be a classic either, although Gorgui Dieng $5000 is starting as Nikola Pekovic (wrist) will miss a week, and Anthony Bennett $3000 is probably the best bet among rock-bottom salaries, filling in again for Thaddeus Young (personal leave.) Iman Shumpert $3900 was fantastic last night in his return from a sore hip, and might be great value again.
The young Bucks in a back-to-back on the road may be in trouble against the Nets. Deron Williams $7400, Joe Johnson $6400 and Brook Lopez $6600 are reasonably priced.
It’s a fairly routine non-conference road game for the Clippers, a big test for the young Magic. Obviously Chris Paul $10000, Blake Griffin $9500 and DeAndre Jordan $7700 deserve those salaries, but Tobias Harris $7300 and Nikola Vucevic $8500 are very playable too. Orlando doesn’t have to win, just make it interesting.
Good luck tonight — hope to see you on the leaderboard.

Hello, even though I consider myself an NBA expert, I’m fairly new to Fantasy Leagues and stuff. I tried to join DraftKings but I can’t since it isn’t available where I live. Are there any other LEGIT websites like DraftKings?
