The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on a three-day tour of the United States. What was one of the first things they did besides getting off the airplane? They went to the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Brooklyn Nets game on Monday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It was their first NBA game.
But, even before that, the Duke and Duchess were with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver celebrating the new community partnership between the NBA and the Royal Foundation.

Prince William spent time at the White House with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Monday before the game to discuss his campaign to ban illegal trade of wildlife.
Duchess Kate spent time in New York as well, instead inspecting a child-development center, a charitable interest of hers.
The Royal Family spent the second half of the Cavs-Nets game sitting courtside. Dikembe Mutombo, the NBA Global Ambassador, spent some time sitting next to the Duke and Duchess, even getting some popcorn from Prince William. You can check out some of those photos in this link.
Here’s a piece from the Royal Foundation and the NBA on the goals of their partnership:
The Royal Foundation and the National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced a partnership between the Foundation’s United for Wildlife and Coach Core programs and the league’s NBA Cares global social responsibility program. The partnership will raise awareness about the importance of international wildlife conservation, develop the next generation of conservation leaders, and grow the game of basketball. To celebrate the partnership, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend their first NBA game tomorrow when the Brooklyn Nets host the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Barclays Center.
Serge Ibaka and Al Horford, along with Mutombo, make up the United for Wildlife Ambassadors. Other wildlife ambassadors from around the world involved with the movement are David Beckham, Andy Murray, Lewis Hamilton and NBA Legend Yao Ming. Led by the Duke of Cambridge, the United for Wildlife foundation will strive for change and the preservation of nature across the globe.
Prince William And Duchess Kate were swarmed by media and cameras since their arrival yesterday at JFK in New York. After the third quarter of Monday’s game, Beyonce and Jay-Z introduced themselves to the Royals, which led to this outburst of camera phones and media flashes as well:
The video is a little blurry, but you get the picture.
The couple was reportedly interested in seeing some guy by the name of LeBron James play basketball. James ended up hearing about them wanting to see him play, in which he had this to say.
The Cavs ended up blowing out the Nets 110-88 for their seventh straight win.
