Kobe Bryant will have to wait at least another game to reach the milestone that everyone is waiting on with much anticipation.
Friday night’s game on the road for Los Angeles Lakers against San Antonio Spurs carried a potentially-significant moment in NBA history: Kobe Bryant needed 31 points to move into sole possession of third place on the all-time scoring list, which meant he would pass the almighty Michael Jordan.
It didn’t happen, as Bryant struggled his way to 22 points on seven-of-22 shooting from the field. He did walk away from the AT&T Center with an unexpectedly-pleasant surprise – a 112-110 overtime victory against the Spurs.
San Antonio was 8-1 at home heading into the contest and not many pegged it to lose against a struggling Lakers team, but that’s precisely what happened due in large part to the heroics of Nick Young. The man who refers to himself as Swaggy P scored a season-high 29 points on nine-of-14 shooting and hit six 3-pointers, including the game-winning dagger below:
