Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an inspiration to the entire world. He changed the way we live and the way we see each other with his intense speeches and undying passion.
On the day dedicated to Dr. King, it was only right for NBA players throughout the league to show their appreciation for him and everything he has done.
He was the leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement back in the 1960s, and was also known for his use of nonviolent civil disobedience in the advancement of those civil rights.
The NBA also celebrates the life of MLK in a number of ways, including playing nationally televised games throughout most of the day, and even a special television spot “Barrier Breakers”, a video devoted to honoring MLK Day and Black History Month. Watch the video here.
There were many to choose from, but I decided to go with Boris Diaw’s photo he posted on Monday to Instagram.
It’s a picture that describes pretty much everything Dr. King fought for. There’s many different cultures in just the one picture here, and is just overall an amazing photo of Diaw and Spurs teammates Patty Mills and Thiago Splitter.
Oh, and let’s not forget about the infamous “I Have a Dream” Speech, if you didn’t already know.
Thank you for everything you’ve done, Dr. King. We’re glad to have this day dedicated to you and to celebrate the incredible things you helped accomplish in this country.
Happy MLK Day!
