The Blizzard of 2015 has postponed tonight’s game between the Kings and Knicks. If you entered a lineup before noon, make sure you didn’t use DeMarcus Cousins or Rudy Gay. That leaves six NBA games to choose from tonight at DraftKings, with most contests closing at 7:30 ET, plus Late offerings at 9:00 that span only the final two games.
Willis Reed moments are extremely rare during the regular season. LaMarcus Aldridge $9500 played with a torn thumb ligament, leading the Blazers to an important win. Hoping to avoid surgery, he is a brave man. Nicolas Batum $5300 (wrist) is questionable, making Wesley Matthews $6100 and Damian Lillard $9300 quite valuable as long as LMA can tolerate the pain. Even banged up, the Blazers should beat the Nets, though it may not be the most artistic game.
Plays of the Day
Open a new DK account and get a FREE entry for the $70K Layup — the top score earns $5,000 and 9,000 of 40,250 teams receive cash prizes. They will match your initial deposit 100% ($5 to $600) with bonus funds that convert to cash as you play. Also featured tonight is the $135K Crossover, with a $20,000 first prize. 1,615 of 7,670 teams will cash. That $20 buy-in is also offered free to new depositors willing to spend more to win more.
The Fantasy Basketball World Championship has a million dollar first prize, to be awarded March 23. There are only 40 seats in the Final; finish first in a Qualifier to win a spot, including a 5-day VIP trip to Las Vegas (worth $55,000) plus $7,000 in cash, even for last place! The $2.7 MILLION January Jam costs $100 per team, but you can win tickets for $5, $2 or even a quarter. The $500,000 NBA Slam Dunk goes Wednesday, with a top prize of $100,000.
Denver likes a fast pace and the Clippers will be happy to comply. Chris Paul $9600, Blake Griffin $9800 and DeAndre Jordan $7800 warmed up for this last night with a 20-point romp in Phoenix, while the Nuggets lost an overtime thriller at home. Although Ty Lawson $8800 and Wilson Chandler $5600 were outstanding, this is a brutal back-to-back against a superior team. J.J. Redick $4300 is in a groove — 17-28 from deep over five games.
Dante Exum $3500 has won the starting job in Utah, and Trey Burke $5100 seems content as a productive sixth man. Gordon Hayward $7800 has scored 24 points in both games since Quin Snyder made the change. Enes Kanter $6500 is holding off Rudy Gobert $6300 for now, and Derrick Favors $7400 should be ready for a big game. Even Joe Ingles $3500 hit four 3-pointers in Saturday’s 35-point rout of the Nets. The Celtics have won two of four on this difficult trip, each by a single point, over the Nuggets without Lawson and the Blazers without LMA. Last night’s narrow loss to Golden State was more than respectable; a fourth game in five nights puts them at a disadvantage. Jared Sullinger $6600 started at C with Evan Turner $5300 at PG; that combo is Boston’s only hope.
On January 16, Anthony Davis $11000 didn’t play and Nerlens Noel $5000 led the 76ers to a 15-point win. Things will be different tonight in New Orleans. However, the Pelicans are tired from an exciting victory over Dallas and we don’t expect a huge score. AD and Tyreke Evans $8200 got some help rom Ryan Anderson $5500 last night (18 PTS, 5 REB) and Quincy Pondexter $3000 played a lively 29 minutes off the bench.
I liked Nikola Vucevic $8800 and Victor Oladipo $6800 a lot on Sunday, a lot less in a back-to-back against much better defenders. Jeff Green $5000 complements Marc Gasol $8400 and Zach Randolph $8100 well; all three are playable. Mike Conley $7100 has not been himself since returning from injury.
Thaddeus Young $6000, Gorgui Dieng $7000 and Nikola Pekovic $4600 are the only Timberwolves to consider against Russell Westbrook $10300 and Kevin Durant $10700. Coming off a tough loss in Cleveland, the Thunder may rest their superstars as much as possible; Reggie Jackson $4400 and Anthony Morrow $3300 will be fresh and Kendrick Perkins $3000 will play big minutes.
