Marcin Gortat used to be a cue ball. He was as bare and bald as you can be on your head, and it seemed like he embraced it.
Then he grew his hair and cut it into a mohawk. Was it a stupid idea? Yeah, because everyone knows mohawks are out of style. Only the “faux hawk” is in style these days. You know, the ones hipsters and preppy kids have.
But the day has finally come for that ridiculous hawk of Gortat’s to rid the earth, hopefully never to return again. He was mocked and made the butt of the joke on a daily basis because of his choice to rock his hairstyle that way, and deservedly so.
The glorious day happened to be Super Bowl Sunday when the Polish big man for the Washington Wizards decided to change up the hairdo, going completely bald once again.
Here’s what he looked like before the shaving went down.
Yeah. The mohawk.
There’s also those parents these days who give their kids who are like four-years-old mohawks and think they’re really cool for doing so. Keep trying.
And now, here’s the video of Gortat shaving his head and the reason he decided to do so, which he posted to Instagram Sunday night.
“Told u this day will come….recent performance on the court made me feel like I need some changes! Happy to be back to the old “hammer” muchhhhhh more comfortable ! I was sick of fixing Mohawk every day!! No hating please #dcrising#timeToplayBetterBasketball#noMoreCommentsFromMyTeamMates#actionFigureLooksRealNow”.
He decided to shave his head completely after having a tough night on the court against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night. Gortat finished with two points, two rebounds and four turnovers, and went 0-for-3 from the field in 24 minutes.
However, on Monday night in his first game after going back to the cue ball look, Gortat didn’t really improve on his poor play. He scored a total of four points and seven rebounds, with three more turnovers in 24 minutes.
The Wizards are struggling recently, going 4-6 in their last ten games. Hopefully Gortat’s shaving of his mohawk doesn’t bring any bad karma back on him and his team.
