The 2014-15 NBA regular season continued on Tuesday, February 10 with a slate of five games. There was no shortage of memorable action as stars and contenders shined bright.
Here’s how it all transpired.
1. James Harden caught fire again, this time recording 40 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and one block as the Houston Rockets defeated the Phoenix Suns 127-118. Eric Bledsoe led the Suns with 32 points and Goran Dragic added 20 on 7-of-11 shooting, while Josh Smith scored 20 points for the Rockets.
Harden has scored at least 40 points in back-to-back games.
2. Greg Monroe put up 23 points and 12 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons demolished the Charlotte Hornets 106-78. Gerald Henderson led the Hornets with 17 points, while both D.J. Augustin and Jodie Meeks had 18 points for the Pistons.
Charlotte’s lost three in a row.
3. Pau Gasol put up 26 points and 16 rebounds on 11-of-15 shooting as the Chicago Bulls took down the Sacramento Kings 104-86. Rudy Gay recorded 24 points for the Kings, while Derrick Rose scored 23 and Tony Snell posted a career-high 24 points for the Bulls.
Gasol has at least 20 points and 15 rebounds in three consecutive games—the longest streak of his career.
4. Ty Lawson picked the Los Angeles Lakers apart for 32 points and 16 assists as the Denver Nuggets earned a 106-96 win. Wayne Ellington scored 18 points and Carlos Boozer recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers.
Lawson joins Stephen Curry as the only players to record at least 30 points and 15 assists in the same game in 2014-15.
5. Lionel Hollins’ return to the FedExForum didn’t end well for the Brooklyn Nets, as they fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 95-86. Zach Randolph scored 19 points, but this win was more about the Grizzlies’ balance on both ends of the floor.
Brooklyn’s lost three straight games and seven of 10.
Bonus Fact: Over the past 30 years, only three players have finished a game with at least 40 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists: Vince Carter, James Harden and Michael Jordan.
