If you were sleeping, you probably missed it.
Late Thursday night, while many around the world are sleeping for the Friday workday, Grammy award-winning rapper and Toronto Raptors team ambassador Drake released an unpromoted album.
He announced the release of the new album on Twitter.

The album, titled “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late,” has 17 tracks on it, including a track titled Jungle.
What’s significant about that title? Only that, just yesterday, Drake was featured in a short film (only 15 minutes long) of the same name. In Jungle, the film, Drake can be seen pensively looking out on the city of Toronto, walking through its streets — all while some splicing in home video clips from his youth.
The film is very artistic, in the sense that features a lot of footage of Drake either walking through, looking down on or riding through, Toronto, with a somber score.
In one part of the film, he is riding in the back of a car laughing about the vehicle’s lack of connectivity and talking about how long its been since the last time he’s been there. The scene has the feel of a taxi cab confessional.
Then, in dream sequence, Drake is suddenly walking through some strange club, past a bar, down a hall and into a bedroom lit entirely in red light. The music during this scene is very eery, only serving to make it extra trippy.
All of this comes six years after the release of the mixtape, “So Far Gone,” that put him on the map.
Of course, the basketball, having been tied to hip hop since the nineties, has its share of Drake fans. A couple of them were quite excited for the new album’s release.
