Just days after participating in his 10th NBA All-Star weekend, Miami Heat center Chris Bosh is now out indefinitely.
Bosh was said to have been suffering some pain over the weekend while on vacation with teammate Dwyane Wade and their families. When the pain continued into the week, he saw team doctors who sent him to the hospital on Wednesday for tests.
Initial tests were inconclusive, but some reports are suggesting that doctors treating Bosh fear that he may have pulmonary embolism — blood clots in his lungs.
This news is especially alarming, considering that Portland Trail Blazers legend Jerome Kersey died on Wednesday from that very same condition.
Should it be determined that Bosh does, indeed, have blood clots in his lungs, it would spell the end of his season, as prescribed blood thinners typically require six months of limited activity during treatment.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra spoke to the media Friday, asserting that it is “too early for an ultimate diagnosis.” He also suggested that much of what is being said right now is “speculation” and “rumors.”
The Miami Heat quoted Spoelstra on the team’s Twitter account, expressing their concern.
Coach Spoelstra on @ChrisBosh: “Our main thoughts are with CB and his health right now. He’s in good care and spirits.”

Hopefully the “rumors” aren’t true and the doctors find the cause of his pain to be something far less severe.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Bosh and his family.
