The 2014-15 NBA regular season continued on Tuesday, February 24. On a night with multiple contenders in action, a pair of MVP candidates shined with extraordinary performances. One recorded a triple-double and the other eclipsed 30 points.
This is how it all transpired.
1. Russell Westbrook maintained the pace of his outstanding month, recording 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Indiana Pacers 105-92. Serge Ibaka took over with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks on 9-of-11 shooting and Enes Kanter had 15 points in 23 minutes to help OKC, while C.J. Miles led Indiana with 21 points.
OKC has won a season-high seven consecutive games.
2. Westbrook is tied with Michael Carter-Williams of the Milwaukee Bucks and Rajon Rondo of the Dallas Mavericks for the league-lead in triple-doubles.
3. Westbrook has recorded at least 10 assists in four consecutive games. That’s his longest streak since January of 2011.
4. Stephen Curry erupted for 32 points and eight assists as the Golden State Warriors outworked the Washington Wizards for a 114-107 victory. Paul Pierce led the Wizards with 25 points on 7-of-11 shooting and John Wall picked up 16 points and 11 assists, while Marreese Speights posted 16 points in 15 minutes for the Warriors.
Golden State is the first team in 2014-15 to reach 20 road victories.
5. The Warriors are 10-1 when Curry scores at least 30 points.
6. The Wizards have won lost consecutive games and nine of 11.
7. Kevin Love shot 8-of-14 from beyond the arc to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 102-93 comeback victory over the Detroit Pistons. LeBron James added 19 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds, three steals and one block for Cleveland, while Reggie Jackson recorded 22 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and a block for the Pistons.
Love’s eight 3-point field goals made set a new career-high.
8. Cleveland has won three in a row and 17 of 19.
9. Monta Ellis scored 20 points and Dirk Nowitzki recorded 18 points and nine rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks recorded a 99-92 win against the Toronto Raptors. DeMar DeRozan scored 18 points for the Raptors, but he and Kyle Lowry combined to shoot just 11-of-36 from the field.
Dallas has won three straight games.
10. The Raptors have dropped three consecutive games after winning four in a row leading up to this stretch.
