No fooling, there are a dozen NBA games and DraftKings offers four different starting times for daily fantasy fun and profit. The four-game Turbo contests at 8:00 ET are fascinating.
Russell Westbrook $12700 is priced right vs. Rajon Rondo $5800. It’s safe to assume a triple-double. Enes Kanter $7500 and Steven Adams $6000 face Tyson Chandler $5300, who is inexpensive and dangerous. Listed as questionable, Monta Ellis $6500 (calf) would help the Mavs, while eroding the value of Chandler Parsons $6500.
There are Late contests at 9:00 that span the final three games and Later action at 10:00, when the Blazers host the Clippers. In the nightcap, Anthony Davis $11400 leads his desperate Pelicans against the defenseless Lakers. It’s reasonable to build a team around the Brow if you don’t like Westbrook.
Still not playing at DK? They match your first deposit 100% ($5 to $600) with bonus funds that convert to cash. Tonight’s feature is the the $400K Crossover Championship with a first prize of $100,000! It’s a $27 buy-in with 3,475 cash prizes and a maximum 16,900 teams.
Kings at Rockets is a no-go for Rudy Gay (concussion), with Dwight Howard $7200 questionable — he’ll sit out either tonight or tomorrow — and DeMarcus Cousins $9700 (rest) unlikely to play on the road. It’s ‘only’ the third of four games in five nights for Houston; James Harden $11300 is quite capable of 40+. Trevor Ariza $6600 and Josh Smith $6700 are playable and Pablo Prigioni $3100 might surprise.
Without Kyle Lowry (back) the Raptors are a one-man team. DeMar DeRozan $8000 gets only a $200 salary bump off a career-high 42-point night. Andrew Wiggins $6600 knows this is on national TV in Canada; Zach LaVine $5800 knows to feed him. Adreian Payne $4000 and Justin Hamilton $4500 will try to battle Amir Johnson $4600 and Jonas Valanciunas $6000 up front. Chase Budinger $4900 is filling in for Kevin Martin (hamstring) with multi-category production at a decent price.
Of course, the biggest GPPs include all 12 games and close at 7:00. There are options at every position and salary range. If you don’t pay retail for Westbrook, John Wall $8800 has a great matchup and George Hill $7500 is hot. Jordan Clarkson $6000 was superb vs. the 76ers but Jeremy Lin $5500 (illness) may return tonight.
Harden, Jimmy Butler $8100 and DeRozan are the standouts at SG, with possible value plays including Arron Afflalo $4300, Alan Anderson $3600 and Jabari Brown $3300.
Kawhi Leonard $8100 was great in Miami last night, and Orlando gives up a lot of points. I’m just a bit worried about rest for the Spurs — they don’t need to win and it’s their third game in four nights. Gordon Hayward $8000 is rested and the Jazz will want revenge at home against Denver, who beat them on Friday. Ultra-cheap SF Joe Ingles $3100 might start at SG for Rodney Hood (concussion).
If you can’t afford Davis, PF is still loaded. Blake Griffin $8600 dropped 40 in a losing cause last night and faces LaMarcus Aldridge $9000 in a road back-to-back, Nerlens Noel $8000 is finishing his rookie year strong, and if Derrick Favors (back) sits out again, Trevor Booker $4400 remains a bargain. J.J. Hickson $3400 was a surprise starter (and contributor) on Saturday.
Assuming DMC doesn’t play, there are several excellent centers to choose from. Rudy Gobert $8500 might dominate. Brook Lopez $8000 has won me some money lately, and the Knicks can’t stop opposing bigs. If you need a cheap piece, Chris Kaman $3500 has looked sharp since returning from a shoulder injury.
